Great quality, may require driver download from site
I purchased I bought another Sabrent brand DB9 to USB cable converter that had the screw stems in the male connector that blocked the connector itself to seat into my Crestron AudioVisual Processor. This cable did the job perfectly, albeit there was a small hiccup due to the usb not recognizing the conversion due to drivers oddly enough. Typically Windows is able to detect and automatically obtain the right firmware/drivers to allow data transmission, but in this case I just went to UGREEN's website and downloaded the appropriate driver and now it works flawlessly. As for physical aspect of the cable, it is a very rugged and quality looking cable with some decent weight from the gold-plated materials they use. The cable is packaged in a simple packaging box with the UGREEN logo and a picture of the cable on the front. The cable is contained in a clear plastic wrap, you can tell where they cut costs to advertise at the price it is, but certainly not to the point of some packaging I've seen other companies do. And for something like a simple cable where the R & D matter most I'm not complaining.Highly recommend this product for anyone working with older network or AV gear that don't have USB or ethernet console access.

Impressed!
I am amazed at how well this USB to COM adapter works! I have used older versions with older Prolific chips. This one is head and shoulders above them. I have an old GCC Mercury I laser engraver. I usually prefer using a parallel cable because in the past my experience with the USB232 port was extremely slow compared to the parallel port. The files I sent at 56Kbps were uploaded very quickly. I bought this for a backup in case I have problems with the parallel port or to use on computers that have neither port. I am happy enough with this cable to use it without considering it a second choice. I set this adapter to COM 1, 56700bps, 8 bit, 1 stop bit, no handshake.--whatever the default is, just changing the bps speed from 9600bps; with the GCC Mercury I, and similar lasers, you also need a null modem adapter at the laser, so this cable needs a DB9 F to DB25 M adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00066HOWK, and and a null modem cross over DB9-Female to DB9 Male at the DB9 end of the USB to DB9 adapter. Or you can use a DB25 Female to DB25 male null modem crossover at the end of the DB9 to DB25 adapter mentioned above. If you are handy with you can look up the 8 or 9 wire connections and make your own null modem adapter. My installation is using a 32 bit installation of Windows 10 x86 (32 bit--must be installed on an MBR drive--there is no W11x86 version because of the UEFI requirement). W10 32 bit is way more stable and useful than Windows 7 32 bit or XP at this point. The 32 bit drivers from GCC have not been updated since around 2009, nor will they ever be, and you have to use Windows 32 bit in order for the driver to work. My old Mercury I still engraves and cuts like a charm. New machines of that quality are considerably more expensive now.UPDATE: I also purchased the 3 foot version of this cable, along with a micro DB9 Null Modem adapter from Arnorin, and a final one foot DB9 F to DB25 M to interface with the laser engraver. This setup causes less stress on the laser machine's DB25 connector and less length, so less voltage drop and weight.

Saved me
I have an older rs232-usb adapter but the drivers are becoming more difficult to manipulate with later versions of Windows. I bought this one when I thought I lost the other one months ago and it recently saved me when my plc programmer running Windows 10 with much newer hardware refused to bring the old one online by loading the driver. This new one was recognized by win10 immediately, set my port in the device manager and everything worked. Beautiful.

It worked just as expected!
Received this usb to serial cord in just a few days from Ugreen. It came with a cd with necessary driver to use this cord with my Windows 10 Toshiba laptop.I purchased this cord because we got my a Signtronix led sign and it requires to be programmed via a serial connection on the sign itself. Considering we live in today's world my 1 - 2 year old laptop does not have a serial port so I needed to find a usb to serial cord. I was hoping this would work with sign since the factory cord and usb adapter wasn't with the sign when we got it 2nd hand. After installing the driver and connecting everyrhing this usb to serial cord allowed my computer to communicate with the sign so I could use Signtronix software to program it.Overall, this cord seems like it is of good quality and it worked as intended. I am happy customer.

Deprecated but usable in Windows 11.
If you are using this adapter with Windows 11, you will probably be disappointed to be find that it does not work and Device Manager has a message saying "PL2303TA DO NOT SUPPORT WINDOWS 11 OR LATER". You should be aware that while Prolific would love for you to buy a new adapter with another chip from them, there are driver installers out on the 'net that work fine if you search for them e.g. "pl2303ta windows 11 driver". Be careful about what you download, of course.Oh, if you want a normal review - the adapter works just fine, but I'm only here because it stopped working with Windows 11. I started to give it 3 stars before I realized that you can get it working if you dig around, and I don't want to blame UGreen because presumably this decision is coming from Prolific.

Genuine Prolific, Easy Install
As a ham radio dabbler, I have several radios that all have different programming cables - several of these (cheap) cables contain counterfeit Prolific chips which makes their installation difficult.I purchased a new radio which needed a serial connection to interface with my Windows 10 computer, so I decided to minimize my installation headaches by getting a cable containing a genuine Prolific chip. This UGreen cable is very solidly built, and its installation was a breeze; Windows 10 x64 recognized it immediately after I plugged it in, so the included driver disk wasn't needed. If you're in need of a good USB-to-serial interface, I highly recommend this one.
