The pole works. It can buck a fat skagit head but you can tell it’s cheap. I new to Spey so I don’t care but the reel seat eats at your reel and the eyelet points don’t line up properly. All in all the pole works and a great starter rod of this size for any new Spey caster like myself.

I expected a four section rod but it arrived as a six section. I was going return it but after looking at it closely it's a nice rod so I am keeping it

This rod has been great. You can't find a rod this long for this cheap. It's strong enough to handle even the toughest steelhead but sensitive enough to feel any small brown hit a nymph.

The 13" 8/9 wt casts great with a 500 grain Rio Skagit. Like any rod, make sure you push the ferrules together tight and check them every so often, if they pull out when casting they will snap. Slightly heavier than my Scott, but $1000 cheaper. Great rod in general, holds it's own.

This is my first spey rod (bought the four-piece 13', 8/9 weight), and I was attracted by the price. (inexpensive entry). Matched it with their 550 grain skagit line and a maxcatch reel and I was away to the races for well under $300.00. Landed some pretty big fish with it through the first spring of use (up to 20# catfish - yes, we can get big cats on the fly up in these parts) but was disappointed that, on a subsequent trip, I broke a section while casting. It was at a ferrule, and I wonder if perhaps it was not attached tightly, creating some play. Anyways, I contacted the folks via email, and I got a replacement section, no questions asked and at no cost. My only complaint, and it's a small one given the times, was that it took over a month to get the replacement. That said, I have used the replacement section a few times and it functions fine. I've given it five stars because of the cost and the service. Need more time on the water to assess durability.
