Excellent and fresh beans, finally!
I've been looking for an option on Amazon for beans that were roasted on/close to the shipping date and I'm glad I found Nicoletti roasters! Beans were roasted 2 days after ordering, and I received them within 4 days after roasting. The coffee is great for those who enjoy medium-light roasts, the beans were not oily at all. Brewed espresso and iced coffee so far and both were well balanced and not too acidic. These were definitely fresh as I got some nice crema on my espresso as well! Looking forward to trying some of the other roasts offered as well, as Nicoletti offers a great balance between cost, quality, and accessibility!

Fast, Fresh and delicious.
I liked all three of these blends, but I had a clear favorite and a least favorite, but all were good. I would like to add that I got my coffee in the mail three days after ordering, which was also three days post roast.I am going to start off with the Old School as it is my favorite. This blend has a strong Robusta forward taste. In a latte it is super chocolatey. As an espresso it is bold, roasty and creamy with notes of dark chocolate on the after taste. As an americano this flavor settles and becomes nuttier and caramel like, particularly with a longer ratio.Next up is Napoli. This one is less intense, overall, but bolder in a sense as it is slightly darker. It is also chocolatey in milk drinks. As an espresso it has a bit more bitterness but is more balanced. In an americano, my preferred drink, this one is smokey. Super punchy at a low ratio like 2:1 (I mean 2 parts water 1 part espresso not the espresso ratio itself). In a longer drink this softens but gets more bitter. The espresso blend is way more balanced than either, to me. No smoke, no roast. Rich, creamy and balanced. I can taste some acidity in this one. I get a caramel and nutty taste in milk-based drinks. As an americano it is more, flat, I guess. It has a traditional coffee taste. Roasted nuts with a hint of acidity, maybe apple like acidity.I'd like to add that I prefer these in a 2:1 ratio but that all of them seem to pull well as a ristretto as well. (I particularly like 16 in 32 out in 28 seconds. Just for reference.)I don't think you can go wrong with any of these, but you have to choose based off of your own preference. Or get the sample pack and decide for yourself. Even though I have a favorite I would drink any of them again. I might just buy the sample pack again simply because they are well sealed, easy to store and gives me a variety of coffee.Enjoy!

Roasted Fresh!
I love that this espresso style whole bean coffee is in the traditional style where it isn’t extremely oily. It’s what I think of as a medium roast. Absolutely wonderful crema when used for espresso- probably because this coffee is roasted to order. It has taken me months to find a reputable coffee roaster that will take the time to roast to order and ship directly after. Does it take a couple extra days? Yes, but you shouldn’t be using espresso beans the day after you roast them. My beans were roasted on 10/31 and I received them 11/03; of course I was very excited and had to try them out. Even though they were still off gassing and made some extra CO2 during the pull (bubbles in the portafilter spout), the coffee was wonderful; creamy, smooth, velvety and tons of crema with nutty and caramel notes. It reminded me of LavAzza Super Crema- but with a world of difference because of how fresh this is. I would extremely highly recommend this coffee or the smaller size Nicoletti Coffee if you can’t get through 5 pounds of coffee in a month or two. I will definitely be buying again. I would just remember to order sooner than later (probably a week in advance) so when you think you’ll need more coffee you don’t run out.I’ve been drinking this coffee now since I’ve received it in the mail on the 3rd and it’s now the 10th, and I’ve gone through about 8 or so ounces.I’m hoping that these beans stay fresh as I use them up.

Smooth, not bitter roast
I have been buying these beans for my automatic espresso maker for years. This roast is very smooth. Fresh beans that are shipped quickly to your home.

Light Espresso - Good Crema - Not Bitter or Burnt - Stellar Value
The black bag from Nicoletti is probably more like espresso roasts from the 1950s, from what I’ve read. I think I get it… we became used to the super-dark roasts with the big coffee chains. If you’re looking for that burnt bite, it’s not this. This coffee is smooth, and for me, perfect to drink as a mid-day espresso. The crema is a golden/milk-chocolate brown. We use it for morning cappuccino, too. And going through a 5lb bag each month; it’s consistently great from day one to day 30. I think it may peak around week 2 or 3, gaining a little more flavor after a few weeks post-roasting. Delivery couldn’t be better… and it always has a date stamp within a day or so of the order date. I’d consider our coffee set-up as “prosumer,” using a commercial quality grinder and a manual HX machine.

Black bag, brown beans.
The Columbian bean isn't ideal for expresso, try another brand like Brookln Beans to get the real thing.

They roast beans right before they deliver!
The best thing about this beans is that they are roasted right before they deliver so you receive them pretty much within 5 days of being roasted! Normally at stores you get coffee beans roasted over a month ago! The roasted beans are fresh , smells good , and not oily looking. Superb value for high quality beans! Crema is thick and smooth after extraction.
