I’m relatively new to fly tying. The hooks come in a very nice magnetized case so the sizes don’t get all mixed up. I think this is a great starting point if you’re looking to tie most dry flies and nymphs. You could probably tie some decent small streamers with these, as well. I purchased these looking for barbless hooks, but they seem to still have small barbs on the end as you can see if you zoom in on the picture. Not a big deal, but I’d prefer totally barbless.

The case came "opened" in a bubble wrap sleeve. Hooks were all over over the place. I reserve my patience for tying the flies, not spending my time categorizing and sorting hooks. Hooks seem ok, but would not buy again based on the delivery.

I received the barbless dry fly and curved shank set. I received the box in fine condition and all the hooks were still neatly packaged and organized when I opened the box. The box is nice as well and will be useful when the hooks are gone. I would recommend this for anyone starting a collection of hooks and just wants to get 4 popular sizes in 2 styles or really anyone trying to fill up a box with flies in multiple sizes quickly and economically. Hooks are sharp and seem quite strong.

If you use Mustad hooks (made in China), I think you will appreciate these (made in China).If Mustad hooks are an "A"...I would score these a solid "B".These are slightly blemished (greater than Mustad) in finish, comparable strength and very sharp (chemically). The hook eyes are closed nicely (good enough) but do warrant a quick inspection! Daiichi and Tiemco they are not.Good value and an awesome plastic hook/nymph plastic fly box is included!

Gauge of dry fly hooks seemed lighter than expected. Eyes seemed small or misshaped.Hooks were mixed in all compartments. Needed a 2mm foam insert in the cover to keep hooks separated.

Seem to be decent hooks and I’ve caught a couple fish using them with flies that I have tied already. They are pretty sharp but they do have barbs on the hooks. Not a big deal because I can just use pliers to smash them down but it would’ve been nice if they were barbless like it mentioned in the description, one less thing to do.

The streamer hooks are nice but they are not 4XL - more like 2.5XL. They are similar dimensions to a Daiichi 1710 but half a hook eye longer and a rounder hook bend. The wire is also very heavy - I'd prefer if they were slightly lighter. Otherwise nice quality. Will make nice wooly bugger hooks.

Even with the magnets in the bottom of the tray dividers you still get hooks mixing in different pockets. As well when I organized them from them getting mixed up in storage I was missing 2 hooks all together. And I got 31 hooks of some and 28 hooks on some and 29 hooks on others. The hook quality seems good as well.
