BMW 5 Series Service Manual: 1989-1995

I use a Bentley manual to keep my VW Jetta on the road, and this book has been a life-saver. I was pleasantly surprised to find a reasonably priced hardcover for the BMW I recently acquired. This is THE go-to-book for any mechanic, shade-tree or professional. Excellent index and table of context, clear diagrams, good paper quality, good quality images and photographs. The one complaint I have on the 5 Series manual, is that while it had very detailed instructions on engine maintenance and removal and even work on the valve train, there were no diagrams or illustrations of the entire motor out of the engine-bay, which would be helpful for those of us not familiar with this engine.

This book tells you everything that you need to know to perform just about any BMW repair on an E34 Series with the exception of engine replacement or transmission replacement. This book covers just about every component of the vehicle (electrical and mechanical) and the book is easy to undersand.If you have just a basic knowledge of cars, then you will understand this manual in no time. Even if you have NO knowledge of cars, you can still understand how to maintain the E34 Series and you will be able to discuss problems more intelligently with a mechanic. I use this book to maintain my own E34 series BMW and it was well worth the $56 because it has saved me thousands of dollars in repairs bills.

I am not pro - just a guy trying to save money and keep a 15 year old car safe and in excellent working comfort for the family. I have so far used the book to diagnose an intermittent electrical issue that led me to finding a faulty brake light switch. Explanations a diagrams were good so that the problem was fixed and no one got hurt.Also, because the book is well written, I actually enjoy time just reading the book for relaxation and expansion of my brain.

Awesome book. I use it everytime I need to do work on my 1990 535i manual transmission car (220k miles). Used it to overhaul the entire suspension myself (struts and springs). Served great and I am absolutely NOT a trained professional mechanic in anyway. Remember, always use a torque wrench. Gave it 1 star because I am an engineer and it is not a tech-publication :-) . It is a Service Manual.

Bentley Service Manuals are the best you can buy short of a very expensive Factory Manual. They are far superior to a Haynes or Chilton manual and, in some ways, better than a Factory Manual as they are much easier to read. I really like that this manual is available with a Hard Cover - much better for the workshop environment! I only wish Bentley covered more brands and models, especially rotary powered Mazdas and BMW M series...

I consider the Bentley guides to my various BMWs an essential tool. They are thorough, straightforward, accurate, and complete from basic to a very high technical level. Even if you don't do your own repair work on your car, they will educate you as to what the problem most likely is, what the repair entails, and help you understand what your tech is doing. Most highly recommended!

I bought this manual for my physical therapist. He owns a 1995 BMW and his friend told him the manuals were a must have for any BMW owner. He also told him the mauals were not cheap. The manual I bought was listed as "very good condition" and it could of easily passed for "New" thats how well this book was taken care of. Depending on what you are seeking through amazon.com it just may be in your best interest to buy used if the item you are seeking is available.

If you have an E34 BMW, you need this book. It was one of the most expensive books I have ever bought, but well worth it. The level of detail is outstanding.

It is a very good book. However, I would like to have some more info on the periphereals, namely the remote central lock andanti theft system.

以前乗っていたE30の時、とりあえず買った○インズのマニュアルの分かりにくさに業を煮やし、価格の高さにも関わらず買ってみたベントレーのマニュアル。見やすく、分かりやすく、紙質も上等でとても気に入ったのです。この度、E34に買い換えたので迷わずベントレーのほうを買いました。気になる点は、正規モノの525i後期に適合するATの記載がないことでしょうか。

古い車なので、メンテナンス等には参考になります。
