This 100% wool bed topper really does keep you cooler in hot weather and I'm sure it will be cozy for winter weather too. I had a memory foam topper but it did make it hotter to sleep on in summer. And due to my aches and pains, really needed something to help cushion my bed.I purchased this wool padding and put it under 2 bottom sheets to help hold it in place--I recommend pinning the 4 corners with safety pins first, then double up on the bottom sheets--I use 100% cotton. I have not had the pad slip at all doing that. I would take off a half star for the straps that should hold the pad on but are not quite secure enough for staying in place for someone who tosses and turns a lot.EDIT: as other reviews stated, the pad did have a weird smell like new carpeting or something, however I washed it and dried it on lowest heat, then aired it out for a few days. It held up fine through washing, seems well made--and after airing out doesn't smell anymore.It was surprisingly cooler than sleeping on the memory foam, and just as comfortable.Overall, a good buy.

I bought this to cover a memory foam mattress and absolutely love it. I'm not sweating in my sleep anymore and it is super cozy to sleep on.It is wool, so if it gets damp it will smell like a wet sheep.

Was having upper back pain even though the bed had a pillow top mattress topper. I added this on top of it and it has alleviated my back pain AND it is helping me to sleep cooler.

Got an 87yo who couldn't tolerate the synthetic wool. Not a good choice if skin breakdown is a concern - go ahead and spend your money on the real thing.

The elastics are to small, but the pad is great!

I've used the mattress top for a month now and really like it. Very soft, comfortable, and the most important - it is made of pure wool. Highly recommend!

Merino wool is one of my favorite textiles. It is wonderful for crocheting and I have washable merino wool blankets for all the beds in my home, so when I so this topper I was very excited to get it. Upon unpacking it, I notice a strong chemical smell, which I have never had with any of my merino items or the yarn I use. I placed it on my drying rack over night to try and air it out. That did not work, so I wash it according to the label, using a gentle wash made for wool. I have an extra large washing machine that does not have an agitator and I use it for all my wool items without ever having had a problem. Imagine my surprise when I took the topper out of the machine and found that large parts had felted. Not the whole topper mind you, just random sections. Clearly, this topper is not machine washable; it has a cotton back and is now completely misshapen. I never got to use it, so I don't know if it would have helped with my hip and back pain, which is very disappointing.

I bought this mattress topper to use on a memory-foam mattress that was causing my husband to sweat half to death at night. It does exactly as intended, and regulates the heat between us and the memory foam, so he’s no longer too hot at night. The wool is just the right thickness and doesn’t add any overly noticeable softness to the mattress, which was already ideally firm. I would give this 5 stars if the straps didn’t suck. Not only are they placed too close to the edges so you can’t get enough of the mattress through them, but they also do nothing to prevent the middle of the topper from moving around and bunching up underneath the sheet. I removed them and sewed an actual elasticized skirt to the topper, which functions perfectly to keep it in place. With the modification, we are very happy with this topper. If it came with a skirt rather than the very silly straps, it would be a five star product.
