These are my favorite wrist guards for Roller Derby
As stated, I use these for roller derby. The difference between these and the run of the mill Triple 8 wrist guards is the plastic insert that runs along the palm of the hand/underside of the wrist. That plastic insert has an extended span acrosss the heel of the hand area, which means more protection should you end up really biffing it and sprawling out on hands and knees. I’ve bought three sets of these over the years I’ve been skating (eventually, the elasticity of the materials this wrist guard is made of gives out from all the times it is put on and taken off and all the sweat. I’ve never sustained a wrist or hand injury in all the years of skating, and these wrist guards play a big part in that.If there’s one thing I don’t like about these, it’s that my wrists are one of my body’s heat points and wearing these does make me feel more like overheating after a heavy skating session. However, I don’t think there are any wrist guards that offer the same level of protection that wouldn’t feel the same with regard to regulating body temperature. I’d rather sweat a bit more than end up with a broken or sprained wrist.

Runs really small, but otherwise great!
I first ordered these in a size small as my previous wrist guards from Triple 8 were smalls and they fit perfectly and I am well within the company's measurements for small guards. I have seen some reviews say that they are a bit small at first, but stretch to fit with time. Because I had seen this said, I forced one on even though it seemed like it was way too small and it was definitely not in a stretch-to-fit sort of way, it was in a completely-cutting-off-my-circulation-and-hurting-like-crazy-way. Getting it off was even harder & I panicked a little that I was going to have to cut it off, but it finally came.Amazon is awesome about returns... they sent me a pair of mediums right away (I expected they would need the smalls back first, but I guess it's no-risk when they say they will charge me for both if I don't send them back) and they paid for all of my return shipping, even when my actual postage went over what they said they would reimburse me up to.The new ones fit great... they were a bit snug at first, but not uncomfortable or concerning and they have stretched out a bit since. I don't have a problem getting them off, either. The only thing that I can say is a problem is the one time that I went to put them back on right away after skating & getting all sweaty... moist ones were really hard to get on. Not impossible, but hard. I think I might get another pair of them at some point so that if really need to take them off, I have a dry pair to put back on (in the meantime I'll just leave them on).Performance wise, they seem great. I don't play derby (maybe some day, I'm still learning basic skating), but I chose these because the palm guard is wider than those on other guards. At first I bought Triple 8's Anti-gloves as I thought I wouldn't like something restrictive, but my first good fall on my hand made the joint around my thumb hurt for 3 weeks, so I realized I needed something more. These seemed like a nice compromise of protection & comfort and I haven't bruised my palm since, so so far, I'm very pleased.

Excellent protection... finally!
When I started off with roller derby, I was using the original Triple 8 Wristsavers. They did well enough, though one of the straps ripped off way too quickly... Later I tried another popular brand and wore them for a season. I bought these just because I was replacing all my pads anyway. They are amazing!Awesome parts:-the wider plastic on the palm really does make falls on your hands much less painful both to the wrist itself and your palms.-there is a plastic splint on the front AND the back, which adds to wrist stability. You can remove both for washing, or... I dunno, if you want to eliminate the purpose of wrist guards (some people take out the back splint for flexibility, which I think is a mistake and then some).-the design of the little pocket-flaps that keep the front splint in seems much more stable, for those who have had trouble with splints on other wrist guards popping out at inappropriate times.-snug fit without slippage. The ehhh parts:-the overall guard is made of neoprene, so washing it or getting it to dry properly seems a bit hard to do.-the pull-on design is not my favorite. I have had surgery to remove a ganglion cyst on the top center of my left wrist and when I go to pull it off, it is a chore. I imagine the little loop will eventually give up, but I've only been using these about two months.-there is a sweatsaver strip on the back of each guard which seems like a great plan, but, much like the old design of the helmet padding, it begins to fray a bit quickly and I feel it's unlikely this strip is going to hold up to many washings. Not so much complaints, as things that I hope to see addressed in future models.

Poor Quality
Out of the package the threading is frayed. The wrist splints over the bottom of your palms line up differently for each hand. They both feel like they came from 2 completely different pairs, they were not made in the same quality or way. Putting them on makes partials and fuzzes all over the place. I know these were made cheap but the price is to much for what these actually are ($36.85).

Get these ones.
I bought a ton of different types to try on and these were the keepers. Other ones weren’t as comfortable and didn’t protect enough or were too restrictive. This is the best balance.I’ve landed on my hands in these without wrist pain. The splint is a great size and shape to protect and the material covers one’s hands and fingers enough to prevent scrapes. They’re very comfortable for what they are. They provide good coverage and protection yet didn’t feel too restrictive, especially compared to others.

Good quality, size is off
Good quality, but watch out, you may need to order one size larger. I ordered medium but large would have fit better

Comfy
Originally i had bought these a size smaller and even though they were tight they were comfy but now they're the right size they are much more comfortable. They are well made and its got nice padding around the wrist. I got these for skateboarding but they are marketed for roller derby and apart from the actual wrist guard base that's wider than a normal wrist guard. I don't think there's much difference to a normal one, so i have no idea why triple 8 has market this just for roller derby.

better then expected!
I bought these primarily for skateboarding and long boarding. I been long boarding for a good 7 years now but wanted to start skateboarding again. I had a few falls off of my board that ended with scrapes and cuts. I wanted so protecting for the wrists since I heard some people never recover from a broken wrist. I am so happy I got these.Pros:- confortable- breathable- offers excellent protectionCons:- none that I have found
