Pitch Perfect

Surprise hit focusing upon college acapella and taking chances
Pitch Perfect seemingly came out of nowhere and became such a hit that it led to two sequels. The film was a musical comedy focused upon the unlikely topic of acapella. Right at the start it set the tone with the reigning champs the Barden University Treblemakers laying down a great track with commentators Gail (Elizabeth Banks) and John (John Michael Higgins) making sarcastic and snide comments. Then the female group the Barden Bellas come out dressed like stewardesses and Aubrey (Anna Camp) while signing her solo vomits all over the stage. Those would be the elements that would make this story so successful, you had some great music by the acapella groups, a lot of comedy and satire as well.Besides the singing the movie would take full advantage of the ensemble cast. The standout would be Fat Amy played by Rebel Wilson who would make self-deprecating comments while also being a boss.Overall it was a fun movie with plenty of great music as well. It deserved all the attention it got.C

You have to watch this one first!
Amazon.com suggested I watch Pitch Perfect 3, and while Amazon.com usually knows all my secrets, it wasn't aware that I hadn't seen Pitch Perfect, or Pitch Perfect 2! Well, I have a very busy schedule, but I also love not doing things, so you win this time Amazon.com! I spent a lovely evening eating chips and watching Pitch Perfect and also Pitch Perfect 2. It was everything a girl wants in an evening of not doing things and questioning her choices of not going to college and joining an acapella singing group!I highly recommend Pitch Perfect to anyone who hasn't seen Pitch Perfect 3, which I still haven't watched because I spent the whole night watching Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2, and a glorious night it was! This movie had everything, singing, clothes, humor, friendship, competition, and a lead actress who feels very relatable through her heavy eyeliner. I love it! Watch it with your friend, or watch it with your cake, you can't go wrong!

Campy, Funny, and Awesome Music
I received this movie as a gift for Christmas, and I had no idea what to expect from it! It's not the type of movie that I would ordinarily purchase for myself, and I expected something unpleasantly campy.Oh, it's definitely campy!Becca is a spirited college freshman attending Barton University. Her father, a professor at the University, wants her to pursue her academics, but what she really wants is to be a DJ. Her heart isn't in her studies, and she's at odds with her father and the forced education. He pushes her to become more involved, and isn't happy when she takes a job working for the school's radio station. When this isn't enough to satisfy her father, and the school's all-woman a capella group approaches her to invite her to join, she auditions and joins the team. Unaccustomed to social relationships with other girls, Becca struggles with the leader of the group while navigating the muddy waters of forbidden romance. The movie is funny and it's fun, and the music that the a cappella groups produce is outstanding. If you enjoy adult humor, you'll love the banter from the announcers. This is the movie that proved that Anna Kendrick was so much more than Twilight.I loved just about everything about this movie and can make no complaints. I'm a fan of listening to the music because the actors are incredibly talented.

Great movie if you love music and silly (but not TOO silly) humor!
These movies (Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2) crack me up, and I'm not that big on comedies because I find that often the tone is not quite right for my sense of humor or is inconsistent throughout the movie. These movies strike just the right mix of music, silliness, slap-stick, and a TINY bit of crudeness for my taste. Can't wait for Pitch Perfect 3!

MY WIFE AND I WERE BOTH ENTERTAINED, AND YOU KNOW HOW FUSSY SHE IS
This movie is fun, it's silly, it's dumb in spots, but it's about teens, so it probably should be. You probably already know that plot, so I won't bore you. Was I entertained? Yes absolutely. I might even watch Pitch Perfect 2, what do you think of that? Is it Shakespeare? No, but he's boring anyway. The music is fun, the performances are fun, and the comedy, though sophomoric at time and shoved in your face at others, if fun. Your teen will love it, no nudity, language consistent with it's PG-13 rating. I did not find it "outrageously hilarious" as the ad claims, but yes, it's funny, sassy and if you like a show like Glee, you will probably love this movie.

Refreshingly different
One of my favorite movies because it’s original different and not another same ol style movie.

Overall I enjoyed the pitch perfect series
Overall I enjoyed the pitch perfect series. I purchased one and three. I did not like PP2 as much, it was not horrible, but not as engaging as 1 and 3. PP1 set up everything very well and I enjoyed the music. PP2 seemed a bit forced, music was OK. PP3 music was fun an the story line worked well within the series. Im a bit sad there wont be a PP4 but it probably would not be very good as the story has played itself out.

Too good to watch only 50 times, this one is going to be a lot more
There are only a few movies that I can honestly say that I watched at minimum 50 times. This one fits that mold perfectly. Make sure you get whatever food and drink you think that you will need for the duration of the movie before it starts. There will be no time for any breaks during the movie, I promise you'll regret even walking away for 2 mins.

Meh
It's ok I guess, nothing special. And there's not that many female orientated teen films similar to American pie, superbad etc etc, but out of films like that, this is my least favourite (wild child is my favourite fyi). It certainly doesn't deserve it's hype, prominence or it's sequels. If you're looking for a film like this try wild child instead. In my opinion that is a much, much better light hearted female orientated teen film.

Whip iiiiiiit!
Let's not pretend this isn't a shining example of how good musical comedies can be! The fact that this will never win an Oscar (let's not get into the whole comedies debate here) is a crime. The writing is brilliant, the acting is great and the songs are so good that almost a year later I'm still blasting out the pool party mash up.The downside to this film, if I HAVE to point one out, is that the male love interest is so 2 dimensional it's painful. You want to score soundtracks? Then how come you never show any musical know how, other than being able to belt out Cee Lo to a strangely mature audience? I also wish that they'd managed to prove that these kids WERE actually in college, by, I know know... showing them in class or studying or something? But I suppose the movie would have been longer... (which I wouldn't have minded!).Watch this if you like any teen comedy movie/tv show/musical aka Bring it on, Mean Girls, Glee etc.

Great teen flick but looses its identity too often....
Reference quality blurry transfer and one of the best audio tracks yet on the HD format.... now to the film. People rave about this film and its easy to see why , its a nice ride with some great character acting. However the episodes of humour are often disjoint from the movie entirely and the films suffers from an identity crisis at times. Its lampoon qualities are fine but then the lead character is too many time caught acting very seriously and perhaps in another movie !? Its not mis-casting because for the majority of the film she pull its off fine.... Rebel Wilson's character is the glue in this film but overwhelming sometimes for the sake of gags over plot etc.... easy four stars , a great movie for most , but not the classic you may have been led to believe.

High school Musical for young adults
I'll keep my review simple, I'm not a great judge on acting skills, choreography etc. The one thing I can tell you about is whether I enjoyed this film or not. Quite frankly, yes. The film follows an all female choral group and the dilemmas they face, and runs for less than 2hours (thankful for that). It's not a gripping story per se but its engaging and the characters are likeable (female ones anyway lol). Song choices are really good and fit in well with the casts singing ability (although some songs seem to have been thrown in for the sake of diversity). It's not a full blown high school musical song and dance routine and does feel more mature than HSM. It's the sort of film that can be enjoyed by slightly older kids and YA.

I loved it. Predictable stuff
Thought I'd give this a chance as the price was very low.I loved it.Predictable stuff, but some really good musical arrangements.Being a music addict, I loved the take on old and new songs mashed and sung surprisingly well.Listen through a quality Hi-Fi system to get best out of the film.I'm not a massive fan of boom box subwoofers...plugged straight into an ordinary amp and a pair of full range speakers (ie floorstanders that can get down to about 20hz)...and you'll get superb sound from films...especially musical films.
