An outstanding bargain...you wouldnt be disappointed
I had done a huge amount of research into which new tv we were gettting for our living room... size, plasma or LED, price, manufacturers etc. been around the sites and stores, compared reviews and live demos. We had no need for a 3d tv so i hadnt really paid much attention to this one, and had settled on the UE40D5520 which is the next step down. Had gone into Richer sounds to order from them, the assistant informed me that the D5520 was only 50Hz in reality and the 100Hz they state is artificial uprating. He suggested that 100Hz was pretty important for a better picture on a big screen and if i could afford it i should consider a true 100Hz tv. I went away and did my research, and whilst on most sites it was well over ยฃ100 more than the other tv, Amazon had it for only ยฃ40 more...So cheap that Richer sounds backed out of their price match claiming it cant have been the genuine price. Well it was a genuine price and within a couple of days (allowing for christmas period deliveries) we got our shiny new tv. The picture quality is outstanding for the price and level of the TV. We have bought it for 2D watching, though having the 3D option for only a tiny bit more is a bonus. The quality of the Black is amazingly good. considering black is meant to be an area LED struggles with, the black is superb. The added refresh rate is actually noticeable looking back to the trials of the d5520 in the stores. Have played a few action and scifi films through it and they look superb. Setup is ridiculously easy. The connections are very generous, I have tried my usb hard drive, and though i cant seem to get the tv to recognise MP4 files, it is playing mkv files off a usb portable drive beautifully. The SMART aspect is okay too, not a deal breaker for me as we do a lot of media stuff through the PS3. The Love film connection is a little tempermental and the picture is better coming through the ps3 as it buffers and upscales better too (reading around this is a software teething problem and should settle with upgrades). The other slight downside is that you cant currently alter the picture settings whilst playing lovefilm through the hub (hence we are doing it via the ps3 feed which means you can change settings. We have got the Hama wifi dongle which again works (and half the price of the samsung one) but you will need a much stronger signal from your router than your other equipment to use it properly. The actual aesthetics are lovely too, it looks good in our room and when off despite its size you dont notice its there. I would strongly urge anyone looking at the D5520 to consider taking this step up, even if you arent looking for 3D, this is an amazing bargain in comparison. It will probably be only a matter of time before I give in to temptation and get the glasses i guess!

First and foremost a great picture
Bought this TV this week and it was delivered quickly in perfect condition. The stand was a bit fiddley but otherwise set-up was very painless. I paired it with a Samsung Blu Ray Samsung BD-C6900 7.1 Channel 3D Blu-ray Player although we will be mostly using this to upscale our DVD collection Potential purchasers need to be aware that this unit will allow you to extend your viewing pleasure in a number of ways 1. Buy 3d glasses - ยฃ70 Samsung Twin 3D Glasses Package with Megamind 3D Blu-ray Film . In my opinion this is a gimmick waste of time but you probably have to give it a go. There are few 3d broadcasts and the movies require a special blu ray player. 2. Much more impressive is the PVR potential of this unit. Buy a external hard drive ( I got the 1TB LaCie d2 Quadra Hard Disk eSATA 3Gbits USB Firewire 400 & 800 Hard Drive at ยฃ139.99)and this machine will record hundreds of hours of High Def or standard def tv You can also plug in usb devices to play photos, mp3s etc 3. The smart Hub has a number of interesting features including film rental youtube etc. If a wire to your router is inconvenient you will need a Samsung WIS09ABGN WiFi Link Stick Link Stick at ยฃ37. Cheaper alternatives are available but I didnt take the risk. There are no HDMI leads but an interesting HDMI / SCART adaptor that may allow you to plug old standard def equipment into the TV

Samsung UE37D6100
I have shopped around for several weeks looking at a new TV, and believe this TV to be the best for the price. I had originally purchased the 32 inch, but had an issue with the stand; Amazon were very helpful (as usual, well done!)in sorting it out and it actually worked out well as I decided to go a bit bigger and get the 37 inch as a replacement. The picture quality is very good, and that is on the standard Sky channels; switch to HD and it is moving photograph, fantastic! Set up is simple, but it does not come with an HDMI cable so don't forget to order one. I actually had to nip out to Tesco to get a cable at 9:00pm, and to be honest the ยฃ4.99 cable I bought does not affect the quality at all. I suggest reading up on HDMI cables as it can be a mine-field of info, but I suggest not spending a lot as the signal is digital so the cable will not matter. Long lengths or potetial interference is the only reason i can see to spend more than ยฃ20. There is a lot of settings in the picture mode which will allow you to make the settings to suit you, fun going through to see all the settings. Some people have critisized the sound but I and my kids find it okay. Overall a great TV at a great price. Only reason not to give it five stars is it does not come with 3D glasses and they cost ยฃ35+ each, ouch!
