Art History 101 . . . Without the Exams: Looking Closely at Objects from the History of Art

So this book didn’t exactly meet my expectations but I can’t deduct stars because of that.This book has more words than illustrations, and although the author is an amazing writer and is extremely knowledgeable about art and history, I was looking for something with more detailed dives into specific art works. This book does deep dives into one work and then goes on about the art movement that this work embodies and the way that artwork came to be.I still give this book 5 stars because I really like the author’s writing style and analysis.Book is a bit smaller than expected, would be helpful to have dimension in the photo description.

What a great writer and insight machine! I was stirred to a place that challenged me to pick up a pencil. I saw art in a new way because of this book!
