JPL 7000 Ultrasonic Cleaner with Accessories

This device has a UK plug. It doesn’t work in a standard USA outlet. I tried to return the item but the cost of returning to the UK is exorbitant, more than the device costs. I contacted the company via email to see what I can do to use the device here such as an adapter and step up device but never heard back from the company that sold me the cleaner. My electrician quoted me a price to convert an outlet again not worth the money. Still researching what to do. Do not purchase if living in the USA.

I've had one of these for a few years and have always been very pleased with the results. When my mum was complaining about the dirt in her watch strap a few weeks ago I suggested she put it in my cleaner and she was surprised at the amount of dirt that was removed. It was particularly dirty so we had to put the watch through again and it came up beautifully. This was when I decided that I would get her one for Christmas, so now she is able to clean up all her jewellery, watches and other stuff that is suitable. I have always been very pleased with my cleaner and it does remove all sorts of ingrained dirt. Don't bother using the special cleaning fluid that they advertise. Usually just warm water is enough but if you need an extra boost just use a tiny drop of washing up liquid. Remember the cleaner does not remove tarnish, you can only remove tarnish by polishing with an appropriate cloth and cleaner.

We`ve been debating about buying a "home" ultrasonic for a long time and were going to buy one at the Spring Fair in Birmingham last weekend.But,the few that were on sale were quite expensive,so we decided to try this one due to the good press it had received and not needing an "industrial" one.It was delivered very quickly,and equally quickly i was testing it out.It`s compact and sturdy,it seems a little small in the reservoir but i would say it`s quite suitable for home use.First results were ok,just ok,not too impressed,put it on a short cycle,it didn`t seem to be doing anything except emitting a low buzz.So i put some more items in to clean,it was then i noticed how dirty the water was,it had shifted quite a LOT of gunk.I refilled it with clean water & cleaner,then ran it on a longer cycle,this time it was much better.Today i tried it with slightly hotter water,just over "hand hot" temp & long cycle,perfect results !I cleaned an old "work" watch i had which was really filthy,came out looking like new.A good rub over with the tarnish cloth (supplied) then a proper polishing cloth and it was pristine again.So,overall 5* opinion overall,comes with good accessories too.Now looking all over for stuff to clean!

I reccomend this cleaner if you really need it. It is probably not worth buying it just to clean your glasses, CDs or anything else you can rub with a cloth. A cloth is cheaper, simpler and just as effective. This device is not magic and will not yield an otherwise unachievable result with such tasks.But if you have a complex mechanical item like a watch movement or camera shutter mechanism that is difficult or impossible to dismantle and clean as individual parts, or something with so many clogged crevices and dirt traps that cleaning is very time-consuming, it is genuinely useful and really does work - I put a jammed shutter mechanism in and incredibly fine dirt and metallic dust particles were clearly visible in the bottom of the tank at the end of the run. Once dried the shutter started working.I've also had success cleaning fine metalworking files whose teeth had become clogged. It may be necessary to run a cleaned item under a tap to flush it clear otherwise dislodged dirt will just settle back in place.I imagine it would work well on bike chains, radio-controlled vehicle model gearboxes & IC engines etc.The vibrations are powerful, and prolonged use will begin to strip old or flaking paint or graphic transfers off items you are cleaning. I would be very wary of putting jewellery or small ornaments with gold leaf in it. I certainly wouldnt put anything of significant financial or sentimental value into it without doing trial runs on other items first, but frankly you'd be wise to get a pro to do that sort of cleaning job anyway.
