Valerian absolutely works. This particular Valerian also absolutely does work.
the smell reminds me of my great grandmother's house who kept her body and mind functioning thru the unimaginable stresses of two horrid world wars and two additional famines. I take 1/2 tsp of this powder with water every night before sleep. Sometimes I add some Lemon Balm powdered leaf.

Frontier rocks even though product stinks lol
Whenever I buy herbs or spices I look for the Frontier brand. Frontier is actually the brand used in wholefoods bulk herb section and it's extremely high quality. If you want fresh fresh fresh, then Frontier is the brand for you! I also look for organic if I can find it. Warning - Valerian REEKS somewhere in between disgustingly dirty gym socks and a sick baby's diaper. Do not keep in bag but rather a glass with a tight screw on cap or your entire home will reek embarrassingly badly.

Reviews are right it smells, and cats love it.
Yes it smells, yes it's safe for cats. That said it does have a.... taste to it. A little goes a long way with valerian root. It does have a sedative effect, great for insomniacs.

Taste like perfume and is sweet???? Not the way it’s supposed to taste
I’ve been taking Valerian root powder for 6months now. I usually buy it from the apothecary down the street from my house and everything that is sold there is high quality and fresh. I wanted to try to save some money so I decided to go bulk. I’m so disappointed. This Valerian root powder taste like perfume. Also, it has a sweet taste??? I’m unable to understand how this product has 4 out of 5 stars. Today I tried to return it as it’s only been 7days. However, apparently I have to eat it. A huge waste of money. I tried to use it for 3 days and I just couldn’t do it anymore, it’s nasty. Buyer beware!!!!!
