Seymour 85755 Compost Spreader, 24" x 18"

I don't understand most of the reviews here. I have used this thing all over my yard and it does exactly what it's supposed to do. To get this in that price range is good. You won't find it and get it shipped to you any cheaper. I give it a 5 star because it's made by a reputable company, Priced RIGHT, and it works. You can't go wrong with this. BY THE WAY --- Any equipment like this that gets wet will clog. You should break up your compost or peat moss by hand before you put in and you will have much better results. I have always wanted one of these and man I'm happy. I should have done a before shot, but that area was spotty. I already seeded and covered with peat moss. Once i put down the peat moss with the Seymour 85755 Compost Spreader --- KABOOM!! Filled in and another job well done. The reviews on this product don't do it justice.

This works really good. Only issue I had/have is the door looks need some improvement. They can and have opened voluntarily. I was pushing and pulling it when this happened. Tried several times to figure out which direction made it open. Not sure that I ever did. Wasn’t a big deal, trying to put the material on the yard anyway. Just scooped up the pile and threw it back in the drum.Also, don’t run over a wet spot. Stops the whole thing up.

The only problem I had was the two bolts that hold the door latches on were too short. I put thread lock on them because they only caught like two threads. If I wasn't too lazy to get longer bolts they would work better. ( that's why the loss of a star ). Worked great in every other way. Someone stated it gets clogged up if wet. This is true. Allow area to dry out by turning irrigation off ahead of time then it works great. I live in the dessert so it's eazy to dry out area unfortunately. I thought it would be green but it was black. Although the door latches are something one needs to adjust to operate easily, (for tention) they will last forever as long as one uses thread lock on the bolts so they dont fall off. They would be hard to find but made of solid steel. There are easier to open ones out there but thier latches break easily in my opinion. It's so satisfying to use this and watch your lawn get so green after. I love my grass so had to get this. So far, used three times on 10,000 square foot lawn and still rolling on. ( Amazed it wasn't dented in at all yet. Not even a little)

Easy to assemble . Works perfect. Made the job 100 times faster and easy…

It does what it is supposed to do— lay 1/8 inch peat of top dressing. I use mushroom compost. Does not clog. Better than nitrates.

i bought this like a year ago ..and yes to all the comments.... this product is not worth buying ... for the money i would just spread it by hand

Ordered 8 CY of screened compost from one of the best suppliers in the area to use with this "Compost Spreader." Screened the same as the suppliers topsoil. The unit arrived, I assembled it, and took for a test run. Refer to the photos. To get coverage I had to make multiple passes. Compost was dry, grass was dry, holes were not clogged. May work well for peat moss, but they should increase the mesh size to 1/2 x 3/4 from 1/4 x 5/8. Otherwise, no complaints. Easy instructions, appears sturdy. Buy I'm going to do 22,000 SF by hand with a shovel, Georgia buggy, and a rake, this unit will just take too much time. Arrived at 1, back in the box by 2:30. Photos are two with a single pass, and one with two passes.
