Water Eaters help save my sanity at school!
I love these Water Eaters! I buy a new one every year for each of the two outside doors to my classroom. Water Eaters solved three very annoying problems:1. They completely soak up the rainwater that used to pour under the doors during storms.2. They completely block the invasion of insects, worms (and even an occasional baby snake) seeking a better environment.3. They block the cold wind that used to roar under the doors. These Water Eaters are high quality and last a long time. It's quite nice to no longer have the yearly invasion of crickets, several of which liked to hide under the upright piano so that their already obnoxious noise could be further amplified and sustained. It's reassuring to know that after a hard rain I won't be faced with the task of removing dozens of worms while the students shriek in grossed-out dismay as though they (the students!) didn't regularly play gory video games and watch horror movies.Water Eaters dry quickly and never smell stale or moldy. Buying Water Eaters with my own money has been much more effective than my seven years worth of official requests to have weather stripping installed on the steel doors.

Leaky window? This will help!
This product does the job, just as advertised. It absorbs a LOT of water. The only reason I don't give it five stars...once full, it takes a long time to dry out. If you leave it in place (such as on the sill of a leaky window during he rainy season), it will mildew on the bottom before it dries out. Still, I'm very pleased with my purchase. If it only gets wet occasionally, it should dry out quicker. Depending on your needs, it might be perfect.

Using These For Years
I've been using these for years with excellent results. I'm glad that they are still available. To be clear, they are not for handling very large amounts of water. They won't clean up a flooded basement. If you have a steady flow of water under a door, they won't handle most of that either. But, I've used them at the bottom of basement windows to absorb condensation that otherwise would roll down the wall and onto furniture. I've also used them to absorb water pooling at the bottom of a basement wall after a heavy rain--a lot cheaper than installing a sump. After some years of use, they do get ugly-looking and probably don't continual absorbing at the same rate. But for 2-5 years, they work just fine.

Good for One Time Use, Not Daily Use
It does what it says and soaks up a huge amount of water. The problem is that it doesn't dry out that quickly and you can't wring it out. We used this for the bottom of our glass shower door. We sometimes get water that comes through the grout line at the bottom of our shower door. We thought this would be the perfect solution. It was great for the first week. But, by the second week it was starting to leave discoloration from being too full. We would let it hang to dry throughout the day, but it didn't dry fast enough. Turns out the best solution for us was to buy chamois towels that you can buy at the local store. We roll them up and lay them in front of the door. No problem. AND they can be easily wrung out. They are also much less expensive.

Gross
Not what I thought...yes, it soaked up some water, but turned very sticky and gross. Stunk after a couple days and was impossible to dry it out. I was not impressed:(

FANTASTIC WATER ABSORBER
I purchased many of the Mr. Thirsty Water Eaters from a high end store several years ago. I had never seen anything like them before and have even given them as gifts. Living in Miami, it was great having a dependable product to put in the track of sliding glass doors and in several other places during storms. I would also presume that in areas of snow, which will melt, it would be a useful item to have to protect some areas of a home. I highly recommend this wonderful product. It will absorb a tremendous amount of water, or for that matter, other kinds of spills such as soda or juice. They can just be put in the sun to dry. They can be rinsed out first and can be used over and over again. No, I don't work for the company but I was happy to find them on Amazon

Work as advertized
We placed these behind the door to our basement to stop drafts coming in from the bulkhead. During extended periods of very heavy rain, we have some water seepage into our basement and one of the seepage points is the bulkhead entry. We recently had several days of heavy rain, and these did a great job of catching the water that seeped into the bulkhead entry way. They hold a significant amount of water. We dry them by looping them over the rail of our porch in the sun. They do dry out and are re-usable in a couple of days. We massage them to redistribute the filling evenly, and put them back in place.

Flimsy Water Soaker
I put I don't like it because it is less than ok. I bought one a few months ago and I felt it was good. The length was correct and the product had substance to it if you know what I mean. This new one I just received had correct length but the substance was not there. Very flimsy. Although new I don't have experience on sucking up 1000 times its weight. I am leary about that. I am keeping it because I need it in one specific place. I hope it works. My recommendation is look close at other products first. I would not buy it again.
