A Thriller Wrapped Around Mysteries
Stella Bled Lawrence starts out as a young woman who is used to luxury and above all, safety. When she lands in pre-World War II Germany on her honeymoon, she initially can’t imagine that evil really exists. By the time she and her husband arrive in Venice she knows evil exists and has seen what evil can do. These books are riveting, exciting and believable. I truly enjoyed this book, the second in the series; the books leave me wanting more. They are self-contained, but set up the path to the next thriller. And the mysteries? Well, they are multigenerational; the Mercy Watts books, which take place present day, are woven of the cloth Stella is weaving. Dayum these are good. I rec’d an advanced copy for an honest review, but I bought the book, too.

This series just gets better and better
I was given an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review, and have purchased a regular copy as well.I'm going to try to be careful not to share plot spoilers, as I don't want to spoil the anticipation for other readers. If you're wondering more of what happened in Europe, and why or how Stella got involved with the resistance, this is the story for you. This was an incredibly detailed story, which has sad and happy moments. I highly recommend this story to anyone who likes history, along with those who liked the previous Stella book and the Mercy Watts series.I'm still trying to figure out how Mercy is related to the Bleds, and I'm hoping it comes out in a future book by this author (I know, that wasn't a very subtle hint!)

GREAT BOOK!!
I love the characters . Good, privileged Honeymooners in Europe in 1938 . Not the place to be as Hitler ramps up the Nazi Killing Machine. In this book ,they have left Germany and are in Venice in the rain. They are trying to find a couple as a favor to a friend. Some parts are funny in a sad time. Action, mystery, deceit and a very clever young woman are in this book. I can't wait for book 3!

Unexpected purpose
How could I no continue with Nicky and Stella' as they journeyed across pre World War II Europe? I wanted to follow them as they followed their new commitment to help their Jewish friend Abel and other persecuted by the Nazis. The plot keeps me wondering about their ultimate success. I am looking for the next leg of their journey.

Pre WW11 thriller
This book was quite a thrilling ride. Author has obviously done lots of research on Nazis and Venice. Stella is developing into a strong and competent young women. I loved the character of Mr. Blast who hopes to recruit Sella into the British spy agency. Will she do it? Will have to wait for the next book in the series.

Compelling Story
If you read the first book, you already are caught up in the adventures of Stella and Nicky, whose European honeymoon is anything but dull. The Nazis are at work and their campaign against the Jews of Europe is devastating towns and forcing many to decide if they will observe the evil, or resist it. Stella and Nicky are trying to find a friend and fulfill a promise but the price Wouk be higher than they imagined. A wonderful read.

Intriguing book
I am a fan of books written with WW11 as a background. This book, set in Europe in the time immediately before the outbreak of the war is rich in details of Nazi activities and rich in intrigue. The interplay between Nicky and Stella is humorous and is reminscent of 1940 Topper movies.Pathos, humor, suspense and intrigue in abundance.

Very good!
This sequel to The Paris Package is a heart pounding, suspenseful, glad, and absolutely intense, can't put down novel. The characters are so well described that it's almost like you know them. Looking forward to reading the next one.

A.W. Hartoin -a hidden treasure
The writing is imaginative and characters are really brought to life in this novel. I hate reviews which virtually recount all the plot so I won’t and just say I really enjoyed it , thoroughly recommend it and shall be locating the next book immediately.

Bit slow for me
Glad I got to the end of the book but can’t say I really enjoyed it. Some of the chases were a bit hard to believe and between those, I found it just slow.
