Can you say fukamushi sencha? EASY TO CLEAN
Fukamushi sencha is tough on kyusus. You need a really small filter to keep the leaves from going out, but then those filters are usually really hard to clean well. After a few months, you end up with lots of tiny leaves trapped (between the filter and the spout) and your tea stops tasting good. Or, you remove the metal mesh filter to clean it, but it never fits back in quite right and too many leaves start leaking through. However, THIS KYUSU IS DIFFERENT. It's filter is at the top of the kyusu. There is no space for leaves to get trapped between the filter and the spout. The filter is just a single plane.Initially I thought there still might be a problem because usually filters with holes this large allow fukamushi sencha leaves to pass through. However, I gave this one a try, thinking that with the filter so close to the top of the kyusu, that gravity would help keep the leaves from going that far and out of the kyusu. After a few months of use, this appears to--mostly--work. I try to pour the leaves slowly to avoid stirring them up enough to bring them through the top. Some more leaves leak through than would typically get through the smallest fukamushi filters, but it still does a pretty good job, and I don't know another fukamushi kyusu that can be cleaned like this (please contact me if you do).The only negative is that it can be hard to tell exactly how much water to pour in the kyusu. The directions tell you to fill it only about 80% of the way. That makes sense, but how can you estimate the right amount? Sencha is very sensitive to small variations in the amount of leaf or water. What I do is set my scale to ml, zero it out with the kyusu on it, and pour until I hit about 325 ml. That seems to work. It's a little more complicated than that though because subsequent steepings are working with different amounts of water held in the leaves. I'm hoping that over time, I'll get used to how far to fill the kyusu. But I haven't so far; it's so broad that a small change in depth of water equals a large amount of water. So I'm not sure I'll ever be able to just estimate it with my eyes. That problem aside, it pours well, filters out even fukamushi leaves pretty well, and it is EASY TO CLEAN THOROUGHLY! This is a BIG plus because now I can be sure my tea keeps tasting good instead of being ruined by rotting leaves. Yay!Notes on look & feel:I think the first photo of it is a little bit misleading. I'm not sure if that's because I there are slightly different colors it comes in or just a single photo with misleading lighting. Mine is more dark brown and green (the shade that silver and copper corrode to), the way the overhead shot looks (and mine looks that color from every angle). As for the feel, it is harder, firmer ceramic than most kyusus. I think that is a product of its specific, high quality firing process. It almost seems as hard as metal. It is also dense and fairly thin--yet very strong. I have no real fears about it breaking. It doesn't seem delicate, though I think it's still important to handle it with care, since it isn't actually made of metal.UPDATE:I've had it for 6 months now and still really like it. In fact, my wife and I both do and we're upset when we find the other person is already using it, so we'll probably order a second one (we both drink fukamushi most mornings). Cleaning it is SO much easier than other kyusus.Additionally, if you mind getting a little more leaf dust in your tea (I don't mind, but the holes do let a bit more in, even if you're careful to pour slowly), I recommend getting the little mini-single-cup strainers you can find by looking for "Stainless Steel Tea Strainer Fine Mesh." Those take care of it (and are good for your friends who aren't used to drinking the little pile of green dust at the bottom of the cup).Still 5 stars after six months! Now if only they offered it in more styles, so when we bought our second one we could have a slightly different piece of art to add to our collection. . . that would be even better!

Great tea pot
This is a great teapot, easy to clean and firm... I like the style and the pot feels better than the $100 pot from Japan that I have.

A nice and handy teapot
Price-wise it says it all: this teapot is quite cheap to expect something exclusive. But it looks nice and accurate, the usage is even better than expected, and I hope it will serve long and well. On the other hand the lid is not perfectly fit, so be careful - it's also quite fragile.

Beautiful craftsmanship, ideal size, versatile, and easy to use.
I've purchased a few different Kyusu type teapots, as well as some gaiwans and easy gaiwan type of tea pots. For most of them, there have been a lot of things I both liked and disliked about them. But with this specific size and design is the one I've finally landed on as my favorite. It is well-suited for everything from Japanese Gyokuro to Chinese Puerh tea.The interior is unglazed, which is a very good thing. You can see it is a reddish-brown earthenware color on the inside, the same as the natural clay which looks like it was high in iron oxides, which some say can improve the quality of your tea in much the same way as a cast iron teapot will. I don't know if that's true, but I certainly have no complaints about the taste of teas I've brewed with this pot.As you can see in the product photos, the mesh is on top, by the pour spout, much in the same way that an "easy gaiwan" is designed. At first I wasn't sure about that design, compared to a ceramic mesh in front of an actual spout, but ultimately I've found that this allows for both easier cleaning and better pouring than other designs; you can avoid problems such as very mushy gyokuro leaves clogging the mesh this way. There's a lot of junk on amazon that is not so great. Which makes this pot all the more precious; it really stands out because of its high quality and well-thought-out design.

Great 👍 👌 teapot for the price! 🫖 👏
I first would like to point out that the packaging 📦 was very thorough, & was not broke...even though the carrier threw the box 😳 on the ground infront of my 🚪 door, cause I heard it 👂...I was eagerly waiting for my teapot at the door. The teapot 🫖 is well built & super easy to clean. It is clay, so it will get seasoned over time with what ever tea you use the most, & will remain with that flavor...just so everyone understands...some people think that the tea tastes different, and it's not different...it's just that the teapot is seasoned with a different tea than what you are putting into it. In my opinion you should have 2 different teapots, one clay to be seasoned & one glazed or metal for mixing with different tea's. Happy 🍵 sipping!😉

Thin material arrived broken
I had to return this because it arrived broken. The ceramic used was way too thin for the purpose of a teapot. Was nice looking and good design, but low quality material being used stole defeat from the jaws of victory.

Beautiful teapot, keeps beverages warm
This is a beautiful teapot, and I was surprised how long it kept my hot tea warm (I did warm the pot up first with hot water). I like everything about this teapot. It pours well and doesn't drip, and the small grate feature at the spout captures the loose leaf tea perfectly. The lid seems to stay on nicely even when tilted quite a ways for pouring (but I still lightly hold the top, just in case). It came very well packaged. Sometimes you just want to 'make a moment' with your teatime, and this pot is a perfect conduit for taking a bit of time to savor your tea and savor your surroundings. A happy purchase for me.
