IF you enjoy COD and boots on the ground, then grab it
I have played every COD and purchased every COD with the exception of Black Ops 4. When i heard that BO4 did not have a story mode it kind of put me off and i didn't like the look of semi-futuristic weapons - so i gave it a miss. Modern Warfare - its great, i mean really great. I creamed the Beta up until the point of close and was so satisfied with game play, the sound affects, clatter of gunfire and overhead bullets (I had pre-ordered 2 months before anyway). it just all felt so right. Anyway - the game officially turned up (booked day off work) and i cracked on, solid 4 hours of story mode which as usual is short followed by multiplayer. i think i must of put in a good 20 hours over the opening weekend. Online is superb, yes there are some glitches and bugs but updates are being released quite constantly (3 over the weekend) to patch these. The activision cross play is wonderful, most of my pals are on xbox and a few on PC but the flow is great - every now and then you end up in some quantum realm which is clearly a bug that needs fixing and requires you to close the game and re-open (30 sec) and your back in - you're basically stuck in a lobby with 3 people from your team and you cant get out of it but i am sure it will be fixed. Ranking system - a new joy, effectively you don't 'enter prestige' but after level 55 you start back at level 1 (weapons and xp) and you start flying through the ranks again 56,57,58 ect, - nothing gets reset, all attachments and perks stay active and i believe it goes to rank 150. weapons, perks, customization - is pretty endless, loads of camos, reticles and challenges. the customization of your weapon is quite special with 4/5 available attachments for your weapon is fully yours to make. The maps are good, nice variety and if you go for the large scale ground war games - 20 v 20 your talking battlefield size maps - they are HUGE. great if you want to rack up some sniping kills. don't be put off by some of these other reviews. those saying 'online play if you spawn you die' ect - it takes a while to get used to new maps like every COD and unfortunately you will get these 'campers' that do sit in a corner but I like to think i'm quite shit hot so it doesn't really affect me that much. besides online, the story is another classic with razor sharp graphics and paints a dark picture of terrorism in modern times and with Price back in the drivers seat - you cant really say no!. all in all a great buy and if your sitting on the edge, i would definitely give it a go.

The best COD since the original Modern Warfare
I was so excited when I heard COD: Modern Warfare was back and boy is it back. Possibly one of the finest FPS games on the planet. The single player campaign was very enjoyable, but way too short IMO. Nevertheless, the game promises the story will continue in Special Ops mode, which it kinda does, but this is you working with up to three other players and requires a lot of team work as the difficulty on this is, pretty brutal and if you donโt fall in to a game where the guys are working together then youโre going to find it very hard going. The Multiplayer is good, there are also recently re-imagined maps of old favourites coming back into the multiplayer section from the original COD: MW, such as Crash, Shipment and Vacant. The beauty of these are they are instantly familiar, yet different at the same time. There are doors to open/close, some extended areas in crash for example, and everything has been given a make over - this game is visually stunning.

Great COD, albeit short
This is the first COD game I've played since Modern Warfare 2 on the Xbox 360. I haven't played the multiplayer, only the campaign/singleplayer. The campaign is very engaging, with loads of cool set pieces; pretty much a staple now of the Call of Duty franchise. The graphics are incredibly detailed and realistic with impressive lighting effects. Characters look lifelike, especially in the cinematics - at times, it felt like watching a Netflix drama. It also adds to the atmosphere (along with the music/sound effects). The storyline may be quite controversial for some, hitting quite home to contemporary events, although maybe that can be said for many COD titles. My only real criticism of the campaign is the length. It took me about 5/6 hours to complete on Normal difficulty. There are plenty of checkpoint saves throughout (maybe too many at times) so I never felt overly punished on death. Still, when the credits rolled, my first thought was, "Is that it?" I expected a bit more bang for my buck in this regard and was a bit disappointed when the credits rolled. I haven't tried the multiplayer yet but I imagine it's the standard COD experience that most will purchase the game for. Overall, a good game, I just hoped the campaign had a bit more to it.
