Great Value for Price
These were used in history class and were a total hit with the students! We used a hot glue gun to adhere everything together and permanent markers to color them. We had to use a pencil to make some of the holes a bit bigger for the dowels to fit into but besides that we had no other problems!

Good boat but tips easily
We bought these boats last year and the boys enjoyed putting them together. When we tried racing them, though, we found the boats tipped over easily. When the sails got wet, it was difficult to keep them upright. This year, I turned them into trimarans by using craft sticks and 3/8" dowels. We'll find out in a couple of weeks if they float any better. (Note: The hole in the square piece that the mast goes through often needs to be drilled out.)

Makes a good top for a sailboat, but not a good boat by itself
These are fine except for they don't float well in the water. We just took a larger board and cut it into planks and cut the ends to be boat-shaped. We nailed these boats to it and they worked great! But that is much easier than making a whole boat from scratch so I say buy them IF you don't mind nailing them to boards if you want a sea-worthy craft. We took these to a lake and they worked well in the water there as well as at home in the bathtub. Both sail and the wood parts take acrylic paint well so the kids could personalize them.

Poorly produced product
This could have been a delightful addition to a nautical party. But every kit had an issue. Two kits were missing the sails so I only have ten sailboats instead of twelve. One kit had a significant crack in the boat. None of the pieces had holes where it was easy to put pieces together. One kit, the pieces didn't have holes where the had to be connected to another piece; in order to at least have ten boats I had to take a small drill to the pieces in order for the boat to be put together. Either the sails were too small or the stick was too long, but the sail won't stretch over the stick on either side. Extremely disappointed.

NOT for water
Purchased specifically for using in a creek and it was awful. This does not work as a toy but just as a craft and look at object.

Well worth it
Purchased for a art project at our time library. The kids from 2 years to 13 put it together with no problem.
