Penn Fierce III Spinning Inshore Fishing Reel, Size 2000, Right/Left Handle Position, 5 Bearings for Smooth Operation

Whether you're casting, trolling, of have rods set in holders at the beach, this is a high quality reel, that's reasonably price, a pleasure to use, and is effective in any fishing situation. I LOVE the Live Bait Liner feature, that allows you to put the drag at one setting (a lighter one so fish don't detect anything) when the rod is in a rod holder, and changes to the regular setting (the one that you fight the fish with), once your begin turn the handle, to set the hook and reel the fish in. I've bought dozens of different makes and models of reels over the years, and this is without a doubt, the best one that I've come across yet. Buy it, you'll like (LOVE!!!) it.

I bought the 2500 for stream fishing and more importantly for fishing on the reservoir. I was a little taken back by how big it was for a 2500, but it’s not a negative factor at all. I love this reel and I’ve concluded it’s the best reel I’ve ever owned. It’s awesome for fishing with saw bellies, real smooth and just a solid reel all around. Pulled in a monster 8 lb brown within the first hour of using the reel on the reservoir for the first time. I would Highly recommend this reel to anyone and everyone.

This is a great reel for bait fishing. You no longer have to worry about a big fish taking your rod and reel into the water (This has happened to me before)! You don't have to worry about your line coming off the reel if you bait fish with an open bail. The secondary drag will start clicking once a fish starts taking the bait. Flip the switch or simply start reeling to switch over it the primary drag. the drag is also very smooth and the spool is superline ready. Love this reel!

Great value for the price. Caught a few 20 inch red fish with live bait and really like the two drag system.

Updated review. Reel has about 20 hours worth of use on it now, still spins smoothly and nice balance to it!!

WOW this was a great deal...so I bought another. Most of my reels are Penn and I think for the money they are the best. These two 8000LL's will be great for the Gulf and Keys fishing that I do.

This reel broke while I was reeling in on a calm river with three ounces of weight. I haven't even taken this reel out ten times yet and it failed so easily. Penn should send a replacement or at least refund me so I can get something that works.

I have had this reel for about a month. The first couple of times it was great. Then I started feeling a grinding and the rear knob would not turn easily and seemed to skip. Having services reels before, I took it apart to see where the interference was occurring, also saw other comments of grinding and no PENN help either so I was like “screw it”... any who... I found that the interference was happening at the shaft to back drag knob intersection. There were burrs on the back drag knob collar. I must have broken something as knob would not turn anymore . But I did file down burrs and interference has stopped but I only have one setting for 2nd drag. Poor craftsmanship on this one. Update 9/23/2020 Tried using today and reel completely broke. What a piece of crap! Still like Penn but I think this live liner option was garbage design. No word from Penn yet.

Very pleased with this reel great value for money I even caught a fish the first time I used it.

Quality suspect, live liner broke after 1 year. Local repaired. Possible design not good, internal pin jumped of fitting, likely to break again
