Good socket, not entertaining
This one doesn't know any magic tricks. My last one performed a disappearing act while locked in a case. It was astounding. This one just loosens and tightens bolts.0/10 magician10/10 socket

This was a fail
I received this socket with a major flaw int he forging of the socket. This caused an issue with the fit of the ratchet to socket. I contacted SB&D on the issue and they send a replacement socket. the replacement was forged properly, but the chrome plating started flaking off on the first use. Rather than calling service again, I just sanded and ground the peeling down/off and I have a fine socket.I am very forgiving to the position of SB&D in regard to the Craftsman brand and they did well on the initial warranty/service request. When the replacement started to flake, many of my sockets have deep scratches and grooves in them, so it is not that big a deal. The socket fits my ratchet and the fastener without issue.SB&D needs to fix this. They inherited a disaster from Sears and were very helpful without point blame. It appears that the price points are a bit lower than Sears, so buying from SB&D while maintaining the same lifetime warranty works for me. Maybe they will start using the manufacturing facilities that make DeWALT.

Lots of pictures comparing to early 90's "G" Craftsman made in USA socket
To my dismay I damaged one of my Craftsman sockets purchased in 1993. Craftsman tools have served me well but in recent years I have discovered other brands such as Williams, Wright, SK and Proto that are not that much more in price but are made in USA and high quality. I have also seen some made in Taiwan hand tools perform equal to and sometimes better than my good ole Craftsman set from the 90's.In the past 5 years I watched Sears replace most of the Craftsman hand tools with import suppliers, my first and last experience was with a set of box ended offset wrenches, just getting the wrenches our of the packaging saw the chrome chipping off. It was junk. But...Stanley Black and Decker (SB&D) bought the brand (not the tools) from Sears, these new Craftsman tools are not the same. As seen in my photos the socket construction is thicker, the 13mm socket thickness is the same as my "G" 1993 14mm socket. Etching and marking technique is different as well. Sears may have "specs" for their sockets, it is obvious SB&D is starting fresh and using their own designs for the new Craftsman tools they sell. These new Craftsman sockets, have a good chrome finish, everything you except is consistent, dedents for the ratchet are good and the etching is, in my opinion, easier to read than my older style sockets. I think for 3.50 replacement for an old Craftsman socket I cannot complain.I put these on par with all the other box store brands.I will suggest though that if you want higher quality, please consider brands such as Wright, SK and Proto. Btw Proto is another SB&D brand. I am slowly converting the 3/8 sockets to Wright (made in Barberton, OH just west of Akron), and I can't say enough how awesome the round head Proto ratchets made in Italy are but they give the Wright/SnapOn/SK a run for their money. Wright sets sell here on Amazon for about $110-150, the Proto round head ratchets from Italy also sold on Amazon go for about $30-120 depending on size and deals.

Known Quality that Doesn't Dissapoint
With all the sockets I've purchased over the years, somehow I failed to acquire a 9MM socket. That was remedied with the purchase of this Craftsman socket. It is a 6 point socket that is well made with a polished steel finish. I received is a quality tool that will be valued by whoever ends up with it after I'm gone.No longer will I find myself in the middle of a project without the required 3/8 inch drive 9MM socket.

I needed a string shorter socket and got one with this.
I wish it had been just a bit shallower/shorter but it worked after all. Also needed it to be strong to use with a breaker/puller bar to get the rusty bolts out of my turbocharger. I've always trusted craftsman. Great quality. Thank you seller.

Craftsman insert doesn't come out..yes, you read that correctly..unreal!
I thought tools are supposed to make your job easier..that's why we use them.Just sent mine back as others have noted the Craftsman insert is fused into the actual socket..yes, you read that correctly. Not going to chop up my hands or pinch my skin trying to free the damn thing. One has to imagine that the team responsible for packaging of this item is having a hardy laugh at how poorly this is designed..Don't think the executives will find it quite as funny..How does such a poorly designed retail product make it this far???Gonna buy one at my local store...lol

It seems to be as well made as older Craftsman tools
This is the first Craftsman tool I've purchased since Sears went under and it looks to be as good quality as all the other Craftsman tools I've had over the years. I bought this to replace a Snap On socket the same size I lost years ago and finally got around to needing one this size. It doesn't look out of place in the rail of Snap On sockets.

quality socket
I bought this for a stationary bike the required it and have used it several times and found that it works well and seems to be well made. It is nicely finished and appears to be a socket that will last.

Perfect for lug nuts
Realized when it came to retorque my wheels that I had a 3/8 torque wrench. These were perfect for the job, no issue when I retorqued at 90 ftlbs. The finish stayed in good condition too, no chipping.
