nVision Hopkins 20101VA-CL-EN Back-Up Alert with Audible Back-Up Warning 3156 Style Light Bulb

Installed on a 2014 Chevy Volt. Because it's in a pretty thick plastic housing, the beep isn't very loud but on the positive side, that means less chance the neighbors will complain or pedestrians getting startled compared to the OSHA approved beepers. I think it's loud enough for someone who's near the car to hear but it definitely isn't a substitute for a visual check (fortunately the car also has a backup camera). I didn't want to splice into the wiring so this is pretty much the only other option available. Hopkins says there's a lifetime warranty so I'll keep my fingers crossed with the halogen bulb and beeper.

Not loud enough,can not hear more than 10 to 12 feet from alarm. I have had other brands that I could 100 or more feet away. I purchased another one that I had to wire in to the reverse light wire. Now it works really good. I left the other one in, being I needed a new bulb anyway.

Installs like changing a bulb. Not a loud as I hoped but it is loud enough to catch someones ear that's all that is needed. Good product. I'll buy it again. Also the delivery was really fast, Way to go Amazon !!!!

Would not work on 2015 Honda CRV because of size will not fit through hole on back of tail light assembly

I loved it alot, able to install it and it works fine for my pickup truck. Its not a blast sound but someone can hear it before you backup,even though I have a backup camera I just want someone to know that I am backing out so they can be aware of it as well as me seeing them before anything bad happens.

I agree with the previous review, as the item(s) don't fit standard bulb receptacles, nor the opening in the taillight assembly. But if you have a dremel & a hot glue gun, it's worth the trouble. I put 2 on my van and believe me, they're LOUD! Just one is enough to let people know your backing-up, plus there much brighter than the regular bulbs! But make no mistake, this item IS a "Handyman special".

Have used these since they were invented by DesignTech in Virginia, a few decades ago. Glad to see that the product survived Obamanomics, even tho' DesignTech didn't :) The fool who recommended spicing in an alarm either didn't RTFM (if the lugs are offset wrong, send it in to Hopkins for the other) or didn't know which end to plug in. With the new, flat lamp sockets, nothing could be easier. We've installed over a dozen for family & friends, and only needed to replace two - each after their cars were rear-ended. It's a good product, and cheap at the price. You cannot go wrong, particularly if you have to maneuver around older pets or parents, or near young people... or maybe in one of the idiots recommending splicing a siren into the car's wiring lives in your neighborhood.
