The Princess and the Pizza

Funny enough for a child to want to read it
As a retired teacher, I really appreciate children's books that are actually entertaining. Besides being funny, this book has references to many other works of children's literature from Snow White, Princess and the Pea, to Alice in Wonderland. This is one of those books that after I had read it to the class would have been checked out of my library many times by my students.

Great for All Ages
We’re studying “Mixed up Fairy Tales” in my school age enrichment program and I remembered this story from a 4th grade class I was student teaching in. It’s silly and has great illustrations!I do suggest K through 2 for basic story time but is a great close reading for 4th and 5th graders. My own Kindergartener at home loves this story as well.

Mention of beheading
I bought this for my 4 year old niece, and thankfully I read it before I gave it to her. It mentions beheading as a punishment for the princesses - which I felt was unnecessary and added nothing to the story. Maybe better for an older child, but an older child would be reading more advanced books.

Cute, but not what i was looking fir
Got this for my preschool class, probably better for an older group that will better understand all the little hidden bits...

Poor condition
This book was used which I was not aware of, however it was filthy dirty. It belonged to a library and boy did it show with the number of hand prints in each page. I bought it to give to my daughter and it just grossed me out to have her little hands touch it.

Delightful take on a classic princess tale!
The Princess and the Pizza is a modern take on a classic princess fairy tale - but in this one, the Princess isn't a demure, helpless and flighty female. She's strong and knows what she wants. I really enjoyed reading this with my 6-year old. What a great counterfoil to the typical princess stories. This one was clever, funny and very relatable with a great message - you don't have to be a Princess to achieve your dreams! Highly recommended for the 5-7 year set.

It's a cute story and my students loved working with it
It's a cute story and my students loved working with it! We used it for decimal addition and subtraction, but with pizza you could do a lot of different math activities!

What a fabulous story with a great message for girls
What a fabulous story with a great message for girls. You don't have to marry to gain status - you can be successful in your own right! The text is imaginatively written but the pictures don't do the story justice, in my opinion.
