Great Waltop digitizer unit from back in the day.
Originally these monitors were listed at well over $1000 each on many sites new. I suppose you could still see the built quality, construction, and design that went into them. Largely it seems like they were marketed at the education market such as for teachers writing notes for a class. The units first went on the market in the mid to late 2000s it seems during the xp/vista era.The digitizes these devices used was a older waltop digitizer that required a battery if I'm not mistaken. Many of the cintiq alternatives from around 2012ish were shipping with them including Panda City Yiynova MSP19. These were marketed towards the digital art crowd and many of them sold on amazon. This popular Yiynova device had a resolution of 1,400 x 900 while this more expensively built yet older unit (QOMO QIT300) featured a resolution of 1280 × 1024 -so very comparable in total pixel area. If you could find one of these units in good condition it was a good alternative to the more pricey (yet much cheaper than the cintiqs of the time) Yiynova of the time.In terms of art applications this unit did work well in photoshop and other art programs. It was a different. 15 and 17 inch Cintiq's from the late 90s early/mid 2000s were still selling for $200 each with a resolution of 1024x768.Though it seems like lack of modern support for newer operating systems, linux, and windows 10. And the drivers weren't perfect for art applications even in windows 7. Though that aside these writing tablets can still be a alternative to wacom and cintiqs.QOMO is a highly interactive company. Even if you cannot afford their products for home or office use, they have many inventive products.
