Mallorca Landscapes Series Paperback – January 1, 2010

I have used Sunflower books over many years and have found the descriptions consistently helpful. I used this book on a short winter trip to the north-east of Mallorca, completing four walks, with an extended morning stroll down from the monastery at Lluc to Port de Pollenca being the most enjoyable. All the walks are well described, however, giving a clear indication of the extent of challenge or otherwise one may expect, from easy strolls to the more strenuous and vertiginous hikes.

This is a good book and the car tours proved useful as did a number of the walks. As with previous reviewers I felt that there could have been walks from other parts of the island than the almost exclusively northerly ones. Equally, whilst we regard ourselves as serious day walkers, some of the main routes - take your rope with you! - were a bit hard core. But the shorter versions of many walks were thoughtfully done so it does cover all grades.

I am a great fan of the Sunflower books and this one did not disappoint. I think the book tends to underestimate the time the walks take so factor in plenty of time to enjoy the views and because you will keep stopping to check the route. Walk 1 was excellent but be prepared as the book says for 'scrambling among the rocks'. The bus service was very good and there were lots of walkers out and most routes were very clearly signed. All was perfect - except for the rain!

Love Mallorca, have been many times, and always enjoy seeing new parts.This books has 6 car tours and 32 walks.The walks range from easy to very difficult, and all are well described.Definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to see the real Mallorca, away from the crowds, stunning.Minus point is the maps aren't really detailed enough for some walks, better buying seperate maps of the area you wish to walk in.

We went to Mallorca at the beginning of Nov this year. Since this is a nice quiet time to go there, we travelled and walked a lot. This book was very helpful in both areas.
