Those computer stands are not easy to slip. The material covered outside them is really good. So your laptop will not slide. One thing about the design is that these stands have curve corners. Sometimes your laptop will lean forward (on the curve edge) a little if you use strength.

Do these work well for laptops? Will a laptop stay put on them for long periods of time, or will it wobble around?

Worked well with my laptop. Either put one on dead center up front or one on each front corner sides of the laptop. The elevated front will allow enough ventilation beneath the laptop.

Would this work for positioning a calculator instead of a wedge?

I use them for my computers but depending on the size (width) of the calculator should work with no problem.

Anyone tried using these for tabletop synths/grooveboxes?

I have them and it helps put my key board in a better position. But I had to glue them on to keep them from moving.
