Mosby Tremolo And Bridge Assembly-Bigsby

I installed this unit on a from-scratch tele style body with a Mighty Mite neck. Installation was pretty straightforward, but before routing and drilling I took my time on layout and triple checked that all components were aligned to my center line and the bridge was correctly located for scale length and intonation. I think the two most critical steps were drilling for the bridge studs and setting the neck angle. The bridge stud holes must be precisely located (within thousandths of an inch) or the bridge won't drop down onto both studs. The minimum bridge height is higher than a Fender style bridge. If you are working with a Fender style bolt-on neck system, you will have to shim the neck angle to get appropriate string-to-neck height.My only criticism is the lack of instructions. There are none included with the unit, and at the time I purchased there were none on the seller's website. I would have liked to know how to install the strings (straight through, not wrapped like a Bigsby). And a template for drilling the bridge stud holes would have been nice.Update after playing the guitar for a while:Tuning stability is good for a tremelo system. I did lubricate it with Boeshield T-9, as recommended.The tremelo arm height was a little low for my taste. I added a second nylon washer under the spring to raise it, and now it is perfect. You can buy a nylon washer at Lowes or Depot and cut it to correct diameter by sticking a dowel through it and spinning it on a belt sander.There is good range of adjustment for intonation. The whole bridge assembly can be moved slightly forward or back in addition to adjusting the individual saddles.

Performance Music Company mailed me a screw and wrench right away.This Mosby vibrato is so artistically designed, it looks and sounds like it was MEANT for my Stratocaster.My fretting finger tips are kind of thick,I need pretty low action(open string to fret height).After careful measurementS,I set aside the press in bridge adjustable mounts, I whittled a bit of the plastic electrics mounting plate away,and screwed the bridge to the wood!I tightened the neck truss rod a bit and can now sting high jazzy chords in with my rhythm guitar strummings.I know, "that's not what Strats are for"...Tell it to:Misters Hendrix and Zappa.
