Amazing Poland: 50 Things to See and Do

A reading delight
I started out intending to add to my knowledge of Warsaw and Krakow but discovered that there were many very interesting places to visit in Poland. The author was light-hearted and cheerful in his descriptions leading me to read about many areas of Poland that had been completely unknown to me. My next visit will be a freer, relaxed trip around the country aided by Neil's addition of pronunciation of important words like "excuse me" and "thank you". The author's style had me chuckling right out loud. I have read Rick Steves' book and Fodor's book but I really enjoyed this one.

Quite enjoyable read!
We are planning to take a trip to Poland and Germany on our own next year, so we have begun to do our research and planning, along with Duolingo lessons, in order to maximize the experience. Most of the time, travel books are informative but dry. "Amazing Poland" delivers plenty of useful information, but what I really like about it is the author's wit and personal commentary. Example: "In general, it's probably worth visiting at least one skansen while you are in Poland. In fact one is probably the exact right number."

British guy travel guide to Poland
I guess the author had a great time in Poland but as a Polish American who has traveled to Poland numerous times I found this guide book to be somewhat nose in the air British guy not understanding a language that he finds "difficult" and English? isn't difficult? There, their, they're? But overall he tries to feature some of the best places to visit so it's ok, any professional guide book about Poland (Fodor's etc) would be so much more and so much better, this isn't worth it.Poland is a magical place with marvelous hospitality, great art/crafts, fabulous restaurants and mountains and sea, it's always been a beautiful country with honorable people who love nothing more than to make you comfortable...I would love to live there!

A really useful travel guide with a diffference.
I thought I just wanted to visit Krakow- like many others, but after reading this great little book I realise that I would be misssing out if this was all I did. The museum in Gdansk sounds as though it could teach us a great deal not only about the Polish people but also how to make politics more accessible to people in this country. Poland's ' Lake District and national parks sound really beautiful and I love the description of people floating along the Netto River on the their wacky constructions. We are given a humorous and endearing insight into the character and personality of a nation as well as many useful tips about getting the most out of a stay ( like the free concerts which take place on Sundays in Lazunki Park ). The author writes with the humour and enthusiasm for his subject which can only be gained from having lived in the country he is writing about. A really good read.

Amusing & Amazing Poland
The book, though cheap looking, was a really good read. And very informative with some quirky anecdotes popping up at regular intervals. Obviously produced on a tight budget, it would have benefitted from the inclusion of a few colour photographs of this wonderful country. But that's being churlish. Neil Bennion writes very well and as a leisurely and useful read, i found it to be a very good purchase. And at a very reasonable price.
