I love this. I just adopted a 3 year old mix breed. He wants to be on my lap at all times. This isn’t safe when I drive so we now have a system. He gets in the backseat. I put his harness on and hook it to his “seat belt”. This goes securely around the headrest and keeps him in the backseat. It also keeps him safe from sudden stops. Last week while driving an old 2 lane highway a truck in oncoming traffic decided he was going to pass. The problem was that I was in my lane and he was heading straight for me. I had no where to go. I slammed on my brakes which allowed him the extra second to get back on his side of the road. Since Murphy had his harness and belt on he was safe and secure in his seat. Remember, DO NOT CONNECT THIS TO YOUR DOG’S COLLAR. ALWAYS USE SOME SORT OF HARNESS!!!

Me and my three chihuahuas take the 5 hour drive up to our cabin every few weeks. I've always worried about one of them trying to jump out of the car when I stop for gas or when I take them out of the car for a rest stop along the way. They've always been good dogs, staying in the back seat, but I really wanted that extra insurance that they'd stay. One of my recent trips, I had to jam on the brakes and my little guys went flying around in the back and that was the final straw - I couldn't have something happen to them. I looked at both types of restraints - the over the headrest and the clip into the seatbelt clip and settled on these because I can also use them as a leash when we make our "pit stop". I'm very happy with how they work, though I'm still finding the proper adjustment for them so that they can lie down but not get them under their legs. I think it's more a matter of the dogs getting settled in their beds (yes, I have 3 dog beds stretched across the back seat for them) - which is another reason these restraints work well - they don't require me to move the beds around to clip them into the seatbelt clip. My dog is so small any seatbelts restraints in the pet stores weigh more than she does. I love this one, I have a super soft harness that I attach the restraint to. It is adjustable so my dog can sit or lay down. If I have a passenger I just slide it to the back side of the headrest, there is no need to remove it. For added safety I slip the seatbelt through it.

Liked the concept of it but in practice, FORGET IT! Did not work very well at all so save your money...where to begin...First...my dog got all tangled up in it and about hung himself! He has long legs, is tall...he was able to step over it multiple times, even after it was adjusted to the shortest possible length! Second...it's very thin, not durable and sturdy at all...my dog panicked when he got tangled up in it and tried to chew his way free, chewing it in half in no time! Third...this is a death trap...for your dog as well as humans! This incident occurred on the freeway while driving 70mph...my dog suddenly began flailing and flopping all around in the backseat...trying to respond quickly, I tried to pullover on freeway in traffic and about caused an accident with him freaking out in back seat like that! By the time I was able to stop on shoulder and get to him, he had it chewed in half BUT that did not free him...he was hanging! I do NOT recommend this product...it shouldn't be allowed to be sold in the USA!

Update: please keep a close eye on your dog with this. I was in my car parked for a few minutes & there were a lot of distractions going on so my dog was in the back seat moving a lot & got herself twisted in this & it was choking her. I was able to quickly unclip the piece that gets attached to the back of her harness.So far no complaints. I bought this because my other seatbelt that clipped in, like how a human would use, was bothering my dog & she kept getting tangled up in it with her leash on the harness as well. Today was the first day I used this new seatbelt & so far so good. I like that it’s a little stretchy so she can move around a little more comfortably & even lay or sit down if needed. I find she cries a little less in the car. I’m not sure if the old one was too tight or not. This is very easy to install & adjust the size. I make sure I put the head rest down completely so it’s “locked in place” if that even helps haha.

I'm glad we got this style restraint which attaches to the top of the seat around the headrest posts rather than the type which latches into a seat belt buckle. Having the restraint come from above the dog is much neater and avoids tangling up in the dog's legs. Great price and quality. Convenient to leave in the car so we'll have to get another one for another vehicle.

We love it! She stays in the seat and she can reach the window without me worrying about her falling out.

We are new owners of a puppy and this car seat belt gives me peace of mind knowing that he can't run away when I open the door or jump out if we have the windows open. I have no idea how it would function in an accident, and I hope I never have to find out. It is a little bit short for our german shepherd, but I'm guessing that is necessary for safety in case of an accident. We do use it with his walking harness and do not attach it to his collar. The clip is on the small side, I'd love if it was a little bigger.

It lasted 3 months very sad because it was very convenient to use it as a leash and as a car seat belt.Not recommended bad quality.
