✨ Elevate Your Drying Game! ✨
The Umbra Basin Dish Drying Rack is a stylish and functional solution for drying dishes. Made from BPA-free molded material with chrome-plated accents, it features a self-draining design and a removable drip trough, making it ideal for both sink and countertop use. Measuring 15-3/4 inches by 13-1/2 inches by 7-1/2 inches, this drying rack combines practicality with modern aesthetics.

Better than Umbra's other drain design
I have used Umbra Tub Dish Drying Rack, Red for the last 2 years and having used this Basin drain for less than a week, I can already tell you it's a better design. This one drains water more effectively, will be easier to clean, and keeps dishes, especially bowls, glasses, and cups, raised so that they aren't sitting in water and/or muck that may accumulate below (all issues with the Umbra Tub model).I took note of the problems people have had with this model not clearing the lip of their sink. My sink has a relatively low edge and I placed the front legs of the drain onto it. To remedy the problem of that end then being counter-productively higher than the opposite end, I initially used two chopsticks that I shortened to be "hind legs" (there's a place they can be stuck on the underside of the drain; see photo). I since raised the back end using a small, short lime-colored plastic basket from Dollar Tree. It works great (see other photo).I delight in seeing water actually drip out of the end of the funnel, the way it should! The fact that the funnel/spout can be removed to clean isn't of great benefit - how cruddy can it get? And besides, dishes will never touch it.In order to get the most counter space, I've got the drain pushed all the way to the back of the counter. This means the spout does not line up exactly with the sink but instead with the back stainless steel. Nonetheless, water hits that surface and THEN empties it the sink, so it's working. (Umbra should consider that most sinks will sit further out than does their small dish drain.)As I said, I can already see I like this one better and know it will both *stay* cleaner and be easier to clean than the other Umbra model I owned. And it looks terrific too. Sleek and modern.Edit Sep 2018: I've had this almost 4 years and am still happy. I use a clean toothbrush or slonge to clean between the grooves and regularly pour white vinegar in the utensil spot to sanitize. I recently found a lime green sink sponge holder at Ross that fits nicely on the drain (see photo).

Compact dish rack with great features!
Since my old dish rack was accumulating moisture and mold with no way to get into the crevices, it was time to look for a new one. After spending entirely too much time reading negative reviews on Amazon related to similar products, I came across this adorable rack. I use the rack primarily to dry a couple of hand wash only bowls and certain serving utensils. We have a dishwasher and limited space around the sink area so this was perfect. The slots fit our thick Fiesta dishes (approximately 10-12 plates if necessary). There is also a cutlery holder at the back (very important feature!) with a divider for 2 sections. The drip tray drains directly into the sink (not the counter) and is removable for hand washing. I read that the basin could go into the dishwasher but have not yet tried to do that. This is the type of rack that may be easily hand washed when necessary so that mildew/mold does not accumulate. I think the name of the color is deceptive since there is nothing smoke about it. It is pure black and goes beautifully with out tan/black granite counters. Even though this item is made in China, the quality is above average. Kudos to Umbra for creating a functional and cute product for the kitchen. You could pay more only to end up with a rusted moldy mess in a year or two. Don't hesitate to buy. I am very glad I ordered.

Changes color in the dishwasher (pics included)
I bought this over a year ago, but was moved to write this review as a warning. While it works very nicely and looks great, you probably shouldn't put in the dishwasher if you want it to stay the same color. A few days ago I decided to run mine through to get it super clean, and my formerly avocado dish drainer is now lime green. Fortunately the rest of my kitchen accessories are lime green and this one piece was slightly off, so now everything matches. Which would be a pretty fortunate turn of events, except that the bottom insert that is supposed to drain the water stayed avocado for some reason, so now it's got a weird two-tone look.I have no complaints about it otherwise, but I figured it was worth pointing this one issue out in case anyone out there bought one that really needs to stay avocado!!

Drains on Counter/Small Basin
The Umbra Drying rack is cute, and true to the avocado green depicted in the picture. I have two reasons for giving it only three stars: it is a bit smaller than most drying racks and doesn't hold as much as I would like; and the drip try isn't long enough. The basin's designed to funnel water though centrally located holes into a drip tray below. The tray slides on a small railing under the basin, but is only about1.5 inches longer than the total basin. If you have an over-mount sink with a lip, you'll be hard pressed to get the tray to drain into the sink and not all over your counter. you can slide the drip tray out more, but then the back end of the basin drains onto you counters because there is no longer any catchment underneath the drainage holes. Too bad too. It's a great design and would only take another inch of plastic to correct the design defect. As a heads-up, the basin sits next to the sink with the short side abutting the sink, not the long side. Only the short side has the drainage tray spout. YOu can see that in the picture, but I was something I overlooked when purchasing.

Looks great on the counter
Great looking and durable. Wish the draining spout was angled better so you didn't have to tip up drainer to drain it.

Buy something else...
After having used this dish rack for the last 9 months, I can tell you - DO NOT BUY IT! There are 3 major design flaws. Don't worry, I will make this quick, I hate long winded reviews.1. The spout that is meant to drain the water from the pan into the sink is not quite long enough to ensure the water actually ends up IN the sink. I end up with a sopping wet counter every time. I have to put a towel underneath to keep it dry.2. The cutlery basket is at the back, and difficult to get at once you have a few plates leaning up against it. I have to reach around to put the wet cutlery in, getting even more water dripping all over the place.3. The metal rim around the 2 sides looks nice, but is COMPLETELY useless. I have to stack everything going towards the middle, so that nothing falls out. I end up with a literal mountain of dishes, peaking in the middle. Bad design, and frankly, frustrating as hell. This thing is $30, the design should be flawless. Save your money, buy something more functional, less pretty.

Style Over Function Such A Shame
The item itself looks very nice but be advised as far as the colour goes it is at best!! off white at worst a very pale cream or satin whiteAlso if like me your dinner plates and saucers etc are a bit thicker than the norm ( mine are Denby) then nothing will stand up straight in this dish rack, and my plates stand at such an acute angle that they are in real danger of falling and acute angle also impedes placing other items pot tumblers cups etcStyle over function without doubt and have returned unused for an Amazon Refund
