Roy Lichtenstein in His Studio Hardcover – October 25, 2011

As an artist myself, I'm alway curious about how other artists set up their studio. This book gives a beautiful view into how one of the greatest artists of the 20th century Roy Lichtenstein, created his iconic imagery that we all know and love. It reinforces how professional he was and why got such great results from his work. For people who have not seen a real Lichtenstein painting or have just seen flat catalogue reproductions, this is a perfect book to give them perspective, scale and texture of his work. Also for those non artists who perhaps don't understand the creative process, this book ads another dimension, that of an education when it comes to working environments for artists. But in the end it's great coffee table book well worth a browse which will leave you feeling relaxed and inspired.

Lichtenstein is one of my favorite artists and this unique behind-the-scenes look at Roy in his studio with pages of high quality color photos is great. There's many good books on Lichtenstein and I have several of them and it was a treat to add this one to my collection.

I got this for my boyfriend who loves Roy Lichtenstein as a gift and he really liked it. I thought the book would have more words along with pictures, but there is really only text on the first one or two pages. The rest of the book is just the photos, which are very cool, just not what I was expecting. Overall, my boyfriend said he really enjoyed it.

Roy Lichtenstein is one of my favourite artists and his work I think is incredibly powerful. This book is a treasure for anyone who loves him & his work because you get a little window into his everyday studio life and spend a little time with him as he's working.

This is an excellent picture book that provides insightful photos of Roy Lichtenstein working in the studio (as the name suggests). If you are looking for a book on the life of Roy Lichtenstein then this is not the book for you, but if you want get a feel for the vibe in his studio then this book certainly put me there.

Another dimension in my continuing quest to know and understand Roy Lichtenstein's artwork. Great behind the scenes view of this master at work providing an artist or just a fan a deeper understanding of the techniques employed by this much beloved artist.

Interesting text and very informative photos which gave me some insight into the techniques, and also the materials, used by the artist,well worth the money paid.

Roy Lichtenstein in his studio is the result of three years work where Laurie Lambrecht acted as assistant to the artist and developed her own artistic talents in a different medium, photography. The result is an intimate insight into Lichtenstein's work over that period. We see him at his canvasses, relating to them and working with them, only rarely seeing his face. Quietly and unobtrusively, Lambrecht frames him and his work in a remarkable series of pictures, always composed in a wholly natural way and only using natural light. A further insight into Roy Lichtenstein and his work, is afforded by Lambrecht's own compositions made up of Lichtenstein's art materials and collections of scrapings cut from comics, and occasional lists or jottings in notebooks. Nobody, who appreciates Lichtenstein's work, could fail to find a completely new insight into the artist, his life and his work through this wonderfully produced book by Laurie Lambrecht. A coffee book table which will definitely not stay unopened on the coffee table.

It is really very rare to find books with this kind of archival material especially in this amazon price. Very nice photos that show the art procedure of Roy. Really recommended!
