LightPortal Indoor Solar Lighting System

Tremendous solar light and excellent customer service! I ordered the light portal for a sauna we built that didn't have access to electric power. The building is 14x10 and the light this puts out was way beyond my expectation. When my order arrived I was initially somewhat intimidated by the contents of the package. It seemed like a lot of parts and instructions on making connections. When I finally got around to putting the light up - I was amazed by how straightforward the process was and it took less than an hour to put up the solar panel, run the cord from the panel, through my building to the battery (which is housed behind the shade) and flip the switch. Part of the reason for my surprise about the brightness of this light was that I couldn't even find the "light bulbs" when I first looked at it. The light source is 4 little tiny LED clustered together. I didn't expect so much output from them. I was skeptical to spend this amount of money -- having been disappointed by solar lights time and again, but this product, combined with the extraordinary customer service was worth every dime. Another feature about this light that I really appreciate is the longevity of the light. My kids left it on overnight and it was still burning bright the next day at noon. I am very pleased with this product.

After considering solar lighting from many other sources over several months and even going to a local solar store, I bought the LightPortal and the Exclamation Light from YetiSolar. They arrived within a couple of days and for weeks I have been amazed at the quality of this product. The amount of light it produces and the sterling support from Rustom Meyer are first rate !First installation took roughly 30 minutes from start to finish including wiring, drilling, testing and after one full day of of sunshine I got no less than 5 1/2 continuous hours of light in my living room. Even on a cloudy day the LightPortal product still produces 4 hours of light you can literally read by and it a high and low setting -- it is very bright when set to the high power setting !My 1st recommendation is that the aluminum chassis be anodized different colors if possible, but all in all the construction is solid, the wiring is excellent and all wires and connections are color coded for ease of usage. The instructions provide real, clear color images of the product, wiring, connectors and details on what to do and what not to do to get the most out of your purchase.My 2nd and last recommendation -- buy this product first, before you buy ANY other solar lighting system -- you'll be very happy and your money will have been well spent !!!

I purchased this light system for a small, remote cabin. The system works great and the support provided by Rustom has been superb!The day I ordered it, I emailed Yeti Solar with a couple questions about set up at my location. Rustom responded immediately. Can't ask for better customer service that that!Following the instructions provided, set up took me less than 2 hours - simple. Both the quality and amount of light provided by the LightPortal system is first rate. I haven't even used the "high" setting yet as the lower setting produces sufficient light for cooking, dishes and general use throughout the cabin. It even provides enough light to read by within a reasonable distance of the light.I've not used it more than about 5 hours in a day, but the amount of light remains constant and I have no doubt it will perform as advertised.

I purchased this light for an off grid 30' x40' storage building. The design and materials are of excellent quality.The installation instructions are extremely clear and easy to follow. There are no special skill levels to installthe solar panel and light fixture. One only needs a few basic hand tools. All necessary hardware is included.If you have a need or desire for a quality solar light I would highly recommend this one. I would also recommendeveryone to visit the yetisolar.com home site were you can find other quality products.

Works fine. Wish battery would hold a charge a bit longer. Great indoor light for an emergency.

We received the Sun Portal system just in time for a storm power outage! We installed it in a few hours. The installation process was straightforward. Once installed and charged it functioned perfectly.It was fabulous to have this bright light in our kitchen/family room during those dark nights. It was easy to read, work and cook by this light, even after many hours of use. It recharges completely during the day, even on cloudy days. It was a great comfort with the power out. The Sun Portal casts such a nice light we use it often, on a daily basis, now that the power is back on.The system was complete as shipped. It was packaged very well for safe transit, with all of the necessary parts and with clear and precise instructions. It even came with a long drill bit to make the small hole in the outside wall, which is needed to connect the outdoor solar panel to the indoor light and storage battery unit, and with clear silicone sealant. That was a very thoughtful and nice touch. The installation instructions guided us step by step. The location of the solar panel on the outside wall is not too critical, since the panel has a very high output capacity for charging the battery. The location of the light on the inside wall is somewhat more critical, since you want the light to be in spot that can reach and fill the entire space - very handy in a power outage! We put the light above the TV on our southeast wall. The light was bright enough to reach our stove, sink and countertops more than 20 feet away. It does not interfere with viewing the TV. The integral shade does a nice job of diffusing the light.Once installed and charged, the light worked very well. We love it! It is an attractive fixture and the very high efficiency LEDs throw a lot of light into the room. We have been enjoying this new addition to our home, especially knowing that we are using energy directly from the sun in our own backyard!
