I see a lot of negative reviews on here so I thought it prudent I add my $0.02 The is an incredibly high quality dog food, probably one of the best that money can buy without going for freeze dried raw, wet or DIY. I have always fed my dogs Orijin over the years and they have always been active and had excellent body composition. I recently got a german shepherd corgi mix puppy and it was a no brainer, Orijin puppy formula. OF COURSE when you switch a dog to a new food, they’re going to have loose stools, especially if the breeder was using a poor quality food with a lot of filler. One of the great things about high quality food vs low quality food is that you have to feed about half as much for the same calorie density and they aren’t just craping monster poops of rice and useless fiber. Whole prey is not only more nutrient dense but it’s also a higher fat food that people aren’t used to feeding, this can lead to softer poops as well, but soft, not diarrhea. One of the things I do to help in the transition / seed the gut microbiome and in general is mix in a couple tablespoons of full fat plain yogurt mixed in with each meal, but other fermented foods like sauerkraut are great as well. And he gets basically no treats, I use his food for training. He has no signs of allergies (and I used to use fish formula to my poultry allergic dogs in the past, cycling through tons of brands before finding orijin) his coat is beautiful as he looses the puppy fluff and the denser wirey coat comes in. Skin, eyes nose clear, regular bowl movements and just growing like a beast. About to swap to Orijin puppy for large breeds as we finish this bag because I think I grossly underestimated his adult size. I love that there is such an emphasis on organ meats - natures super food, and fish which is excellent for breeds inclined to have arthritic or joint issues in the future. Anyway, I am team Orijin, not paid, I take the $100 hit monthly, but I will try to find it locally because when I had dogs before they had like a frequent buyer program when after so many bags you got one free and that does not happen with Amazon lol.

We have a new puppy so I wanted to buy the best quality dry dog food we could find. This seems to one of the better ones on the market with the greatest amount of protein. My puppy really seems to like it and we have been feeding her the same flavor for 9 months no issue. Besides meals, we also use them for training. The only issue we have is the strong, strong odor. I mean, you can't really blame it since the ingredients are high quality proteins, but it can really stick up your room if left out or open. We keep ours in a plastic container, but still get a whiff once in a while when entering the dog room. I will say this though - DO NOT leave these in your pockets when training your dog. I was for a while, and my boyfriend didn't want to be around me because I smelled like fish. It took a heavy duty scrub and wash to get the stink out. We use a treat bag now and even when that was washed it still held the smell -- just keep that in mind.
