Fight Like a Girl

Fight Like a Girl is a book that is needed in today's culture. Unfortunately, many times we doubt the value of our unique abilities and gifts as women because we view situations through eyes of a gender-confused culture.(p.72) Many times society presents the idea that men and women are interchangeable rather than interdependent, which leads to both sides struggling to discover their part in the grand design of life. A key idea the author expresses is that women are solutions, not problems. In the author's words "We cannot become what we were created to be until we remember who we are."(p.31)I liked the way Lisa Bevere compared the gifts given by Aslan in C.S.Lewis' The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe to the unique strengths that men and women bring to attack a problem. Even a child can see that there are times when it is best to go to Daddy and other times when Mommy is the one that is needed. Bevere does an excellent job of showing how everyone benefits when we utilize our strengths rather than insisting that we can do everything. I highly recommend this book.

I am currently reading this book and I can't say enough how much it's already changing my life and how I see myself as a woman. I value womanhood so differently now. I bought it originally because I knew I had some deeper issues related to not valuing my femininity and womanhood and I was a mess when I found out I was having a baby girl. I thought, "how can I teach my little girl to value herself when I hardly value myself?" Things are very different now and I'm so excited to share with my little girl all that God has intended for her.

I love Lisa Bevere. Everytime she writes or speaks, I pay attention. In "Fight Like a Girl" I was so transformed. It revolutionized the way I viewed myself as a woman, especially as a woman of God. I try to keep a copy for myself and then an extra copy to give away to any woman I feel led to give it to. I always get such gratitude for it later. I'm also keeping a copy to give to my daughter when she's ready. She's just three months old right now, but that's how much I believe in this book. I want to make sure I have it when she's ready.

This book is so wonderful. I use to feel like a man has all power and that a woman should bow down to men, forgive me, it was my upbringing. But while and after reading this book, I have found strength in myself to lead but also know when to allow myself to be led. It is a wonderful book and I highly recommend it to any woman, or young lady. I can not believe how wonderful this book is. I bought it as a suggested read, but I love it so much, I am buying it for several women that I know will get great use out of it.

After reading the Strong Devotional, I picked up Fight Like a Girl book and ordered the workbook to go along with it. As a woman in a male dominated industry, this book gave me courage to step into my strengths as a woman to be more effective in my life and workplace.

I can't wait to dive in!

I had the privilege of hearing Lisa speak at a women's conference a few years ago on her book "Lioness Arising." It was so inspiring that I purchased that book. After finished it my mind was blown away at all I had learned and the encouragement I received. When I saw that "Fight Like A Girl" was released I knew I had to buy it. If you want to be encouraged, laugh, and be reminded of what it is to be a daughter of Christ, I encourage you to buy this book.

This book opened my eyes as to why I've disliked women and why so many women around the world feel the same way. I now embrace the strength God built into women and starting to read her other book "Lioness". Never would I have imagined God could use any book to open my eyes to the power women have individuality and in sisterhood. I'm now looking forward to the future bond of Godly friendships with women.
