Saw this one on America's Test Kitchen. I wanted one that cuts 16 slices instead of 8. The bottom part really does work to push them through

Nice tool for thinner apple slices yet with some flaws
I am happy with this purchase as I wanted more slices than the many 8 slicer options available, but it does have flaws, with two noteworthy: 1) it requires me turning the gadget around half way thru the apple and REALLY pushing hard to get thru the entire fruit if the apple isn't super small and 2) the top piece and bottom piece don't connect so when I put it away, they separate and those blades are open for cutting skin. That's unacceptable! They should have included some connector, but since none is there, I am using a wide rubber band.

Works as advertised!
This apple slicer is great! Slices are thin due to cutting more slices, 16 instead of 8. Slices are thinner which is also a plus. I agree that these are good Slices to bake with but I have not tried but the thinness is good for that. Sometimes the apples I have are large, so need to be sure it's centered properly or it gets stuck. That is not an issue with the device just the large aple, lol

Still working great 2 years later
Two Years Later (11/2022).... I am finally getting around to writing a review of this item. It's a good thing though, because I can now report that this thing is awesome. It has held up incredible well (minus the plastic base, which still functions but looks very dingy, cut-up, scratched, etc...). We constantly have it in the dishwasher (top rack only) and haven't noticed it dull or rust or anything of that nature. No cracks yet, the center metal ring is still welded on. Doing fine. Would purchase this item again. In fact, I purchased one for a family member almost a year ago and it sounds like that one is working great as well.
