Could I paint the pots? If so would just a can of spray paint be ok?

I don't see why you couldn't. I can't say what they're made of but it seems like spray paint would work fine once you get the "succulent " adequately covered to protect it.

Are the pots grey or beige?

Compared to other items in my home which are definitely beige or taupe, I would consider the pots gray. I have the five pots on my mantle above my fireplace. I like having them in my home and find them attractive. Although the pots are small they are decorative and add a nice touch to the area in which they were placed.
