In The Swim Chlorine-Free Pool Shock - Quick Dissolving, Fast-Acting, Shock-Oxidizer for Swimming Pools, Spas, and Salt Chlorinated Pools Compatible - 24 x 1 Pound Bags

This was a surprise for me. I thought I was ordering ordinary routine Chlorine Pool Shock. I didn't notice it was "Chlorine Free Shock." Apparently it's mostly for bromine or other specialty conditioned swimming pools. But I was stuck with it, and it also says "good for any pools" though I'd never heard of it.Short story: I used it in my regular normal chlorine pool, and the pool has been sharp and clear, not a trace of algae even with this heat, with normal pH, and much less use of chlorine for several weeks running. My pool normally drifts to high pH all the time for years, and lowered with acid, and repeat. Now it stays at neutral pH. I guess I am an unexpected fan of Chlorine Free Shock. It looks like I am saving money on chlorine and chlorine shock and saving money on pH acid. (I think the theory is, it fixes free radicals or something and that lets the normal chlorine work better).

I used to use this stuff all the time. I'm not sure what happened, if they changed ingredients or they left this case sitting out in the sun. But this stuff does not work. I would have rated at a one, but this has worked in the past. I don't know what the issue is but I'm very dissatisfied with this purchase. I just scrape the walls and put two packets in as I usually do. If it's somehow works this time I'll come back and change my review. But I'm almost through the box. I had to end up getting liquid chlorine to add in addition to my 3-in tablets that I've been using for 3 years in this pool. so in 3 years it's been fine with just two packets of a non-chlorine shock and tablets. Now all of a sudden, This case seems defective.

Sadly non-Chlorine shock is simply not a replacement for chlorine shock. I thought it would be like ‘fat-free milk’, not be as good so I could just use more, but it simply won’t kill algae, bacteria or other dangerous living organisms. So I’ve been using it simply when no one is going to be in the pool for a few days. I’ll also use it when closing the pool. It will be effective in reducing the need to chlorine shock as often, but because it costs more, that’s not really very valuable unless you have a chlorine shortage as we do in 2021.

The % of active ingredient - peroxysulfate - is around 4% less than similar products I have been using in past. This no doubt means to get same level of protection a bit more will have to be used. This was not clear in the product description when I ordered. Apparently there is no established standard concentration for this kind or product. However, it is well packaged in 1 lb poly bags and is very easy to use. The order cane on time and with clear easy to follow instructions on how to use. Otherwise, works good.

We use granular, non chlorine shock for our home spa and this is the best value I have found. The one pound packages are convenient and store easily. Each package lasts us 2 weeks on average.

Easy to use. Don’t have to worry about fading my liner and love the “no pre-mix” factor 😎. I use weekly and my pool water is crystal clear . No algae, no water line, and does not affect water chemistry. I am a fan of all In The Swim products. I used their pool closing product package last fall and when I uncovered my pool this spring the water was crystal clear !!

With a saltwater pool it’s important to use the right products. I use this shock treatment once a week to keep the pool crystal clear and in balance. With our extremely high heat in SW Florida, a pool can turn green quickly and this product is an important component of my routine maintenance. It’s gentle and non-chlorine, yet does the job extremely well.

I really like using Non-Chlorine Shock once per week. Really keeps my pool nice without heavy smelly chemicals. You can swim without delay. I use this once a week in combination with a Mega Disk reticulated sponge-like KDF media filter and some liquid Chlorine every few days for a perfect low maintenance pool.
