Seamlessly combining an AM/FM radio and a fully featured MP3 player, the M8 is an updated and improved version of the widely appraised M7. Some major improvements include a larger LCD display, a sleep timer of up to 120 minutes, a battery low indicator and stereo earphone output. Yet the M8 still comes in the same portable & compact size, and it is packed with functions and features, ideal for both indoor and outdoor use. Powered by a Lithium rechargeable battery, the M8 with DSP (digital signal processing) will keep you connected to a comprehensive frequency range including both AM and FM. There are a total of 100 memories, 50 for AM and 50 for FM. For prolonged battery life, the M8 is equipped with a light sensor and radio control detector that will activate the backlight only when it’s dark and a radio control motion is detected, such as a key press or volume adjustment. With its DSP circuitry and specially designed acoustic chamber for full rich & distortion-free sound, the M8 offers not only excellent sensitivity and selectivity for picking up radio stations, but also exceptional, distortion-free and ear-delicious sound quality. Featuring a micro-SD/TF card reader supporting up to 32GB, a 3.5mm auxiliary input jack as well as a keypad control, the M8 can be used as an amplified speaker for playing your music files, MP3 or WMA, anywhere you go. Had to have another
This is my third Meloson. The original M7 is still in my kitchen, my wife says it's hers. I bought another M7 for a buddy who loves it. Now I had to try the new model M8 and it does not disappoint. The DSP locks onto stations and does not drift. It is great to hear distant AM stations at night clearly and listen to sports or talk radio. Here north of Detroit, MI it is no problem to hear WHAS Louisville,KY; WRVA, Richmond, VA; WABC New York, WBZ Boston,MA; stations in the Chicago area, Toronto, ONT; or numerous nearby stations. ATS scan and set will run out of the 50 available presets before the radio is done scanning the AM band. There is just so much there to listen to.The FM is great too and stereo through earphones. Fm also has 50 presets. It receives FM stations that many radios cannot touch. The sound is still the thing with this radio. There is a small round speaker and an oblong passive radiator below it in the left half of the radio. It gives big sound for this small package. If you listen to music while holding the radio you will feel the music as well has hear it.The mp3 feature is still there and stereo through earphones. The radio adds a larger display which includes a battery level indicator and adds a sleep timer incorporated in the new push on/push off power button. The LCD light is improved in that it only comes on if in low light and tuning. The radio includes a battery that charges through a usb cell phone charger or an included usb to mini usb laptop cable that is provided in the box along with a stand and wrist strap. It is a great radio, you won't be disappointed and Electronnix ships promptly and supports their products sold through Amazon.

Sounds bigger than it is.
This little radio is a great product. It's small enough to fit in a coat pocket. It holds a charge well and runs for about 10 hours. You can plug an external source into it (like and iPod or a phone) and it becomes an extension speaker that is LOUD. It gets excellent AM reception. The FM could be improved with a better antenna. The big thing is the sound. It has a small but high-tech speaker that has excellent tone and range. BUT! It also has a passive bass radiator that makes it sound like it has a sub-woofer. The only thing I would change is the two knobs on the lower left side are just stupid decorations. They don't do anything. But they COULD be used to add bass and treble tone controls. That would make this a nearly perfect product.

Could have been In A Class of Its Own
This little portable radio is in a class of its own. The clarity and tone are amazing considering it has a one inch driver with a one inch passive radiator. Within the frequency range it supports, the sound is warm and articulate, percussion is snappy. It is simply very enjoyable to listen to. And it is quite small which enhances its portability. The usb rechargeable battery is generally a big advantage over standard rechargeable batteries as you can listen to it while it's recharging. It has an aux input so you can patch in an ipod or smartphone. If you don't want that cumbersome arrangement, it has a micro storage input, and apparently the card can be stored in the battery compartment. I have not yet tried the micro card, so I can't say how well that works. The number pad for manually entering stations is a feature I appreciate. It can be set up for auto tune, but I have not done that as I usually only listen to two stations. Another reviewer commented on its good reception. That is a primary reason I chose this radio. One of the stations I listen to is weak, so my hope was that I would be able to successfully tune it in. Sadly, it is still a struggle. If weather conditions are right, I can locate a spot where it comes in well. The sleep timer is another primary reason I chose this radio. That's a feature, to my knowledge, that is rare, if not impossible to find on a portable radio. My only criticisms are: (1) a larger, raised power button (2) a kickstand that is attached to the radioIf you want a highly portable radio with really enjoyable sound quality, and super useful features, this is your radio.Update:The most compelling feature is the SD card capability which I didn't end up trying to use until a few months ago. It turns out mine does not work. Consequently, I have to deduct a couple stars.

Great AM/FM and MP3 Device
I got for $25 during Amazon's pre-Black Friday sales. No problems with the reception with either AM or FM channels. I like the fact that you can change channels through multiple methods. I live in Southern California and it will pick up channels from LA, Orange, San Diego and the Inland counties. The MP3 feature will play either all or random/shuffle. It's considerably larger than the Sony or Panasonic pocket radio and uses that size to increase the bass so it doesn't sound as tinny as those models. I will listen to music channels with this model but not the other pocket radios. This M8 will not fit in a shirt pocket. The same buttons will fast forward/skip forward and fast reverse/skip reverse MP3 songs. You need to auto scan then delete the radio channels you don't want it to save. Since it has AM and FM, I use it more than my SimplyVibe SV-X6. I now use the SimplyVibe more as a pass through speaker for some other devices that don't have speakers or good speakers. You can also use this Meloson device as a pass through speaker but its ease of use of its multiple functions over the SimplyVibe makes it easy decision to use when I want radio or MP3 functionality. If they would add an alarm clock feature, I would get one for both home and work. It does have a sleep timer but not a display clock. The headphone output is stereo if you use headphones or external speakers. Its User Manual is in grammatically correct English if you need to reference it. If you are searching for a device for AM/FM and MP3, this one is highly recommended.
