Opera for People Who Hate Opera

I had expected to receive all 4 versions of the above item. I only received one. I proceeded to give it away since I was only interested in receiving the Carmen education of the 4 CD set.

This is an excellent survey of the most popular opera and operetta selections. If you like Gilbert and Sullivan, check the complete track lists above to find your favorite since several G & S selections are included. Pirates of Penzance, Mikado, Carmen and Aida are each featured on a single disc with highlights grouped. Pinafore is also featured on disc B with Aida.This seems to have been issued as a set and also released or "dumped" as singles. All singles use the same number with an added A,B,C,D to tell which volume of the series it is.Some after market listings refer to the disc, others are noncommital. Some specifically refer to 4 discs, etc. Use some caution. I would not expect a one cent listing to include all four, for example.Expect few big name singers, but competent orchestras like Utah Symphony, as well as Eastern European orchestras and singers. the content includes both overtures and arias.I bought these when I was surveying material for an opera class I was teaching. I found them to be pleasing and quite varied. They are well suited as introductory material or for easy listening opera.

description said it comes 4 cd's and only got 1. can't complain for the price.
