Honest Review - from a mom who used tampons, cups and discs
I’ve been meaning to review this product since the very first time I used them. I kept forgetting but I realized I needed to make this review a priority- especially to give input for those of you who are on the fence.Let me start - I have a 15yo and a 4yo. I had a tubal ligation done after my last child was born. My periods have been insane since then. You know the bleeding you have after giving birth - honestly that’s how my periods have been ever since. Prior to having my last child (I was 30 when I had her), my periods had always been light and short. I was super lucky. I had my daughter and my periods have been so heavy ever since. When I say I soak through a super plus tampon in an hour or two on my heaviest days, I mean it. I was not only going through so many tampons, but I was having to wear super absorbent diapers.. I mean pads to catch what leaked because usually 4 out of 7 days that I menstruate, it’s heavy. Not just blood but clots. It’s horrible. Honestly, I consider getting an IUD not to prevent pregnancy, but possibly to lighten my periods because it’s ridiculous. Anyways, about two years ago I started seeing people recommend menstrual cups. I decided to see what the hype was about. They definitely took some trail and error - and even a trip to the urgent care to have one removed that somehow slid sideways and suctioned sideways that made it impossible for me to remove. But even after that, I still used them regularly because they did make it possible to go more than an hour or two without stressing about leaking. On my heaviest days, I was probably going about 4/5hours without having to remove the cup. I was actually happy with that. But even after over a year of using them, sometimes I still had issues with getting the placement correct. I do have a tilted cervix if that makes a difference. Anyways, several months ago I started seeing info regarding these “menstrual discs” that was of course marketed safe and mess free to use during sex. Well I’m not going to lie, that wasn’t the part that intrigued me. The part that made me interested was the fact that it was a flat disc and if it allowed a penis to enter your vagina without issues, I thought maybe I could finally stop using pads and panty liners as back up and use a light tampon instead. There were two brands at the time this brand and another. I went with this brand because it was cheaper and had two more discs included. In my mind I was thinking about how I’m usually menstruating for 7 days and these say they can work up to 12 hours - so I am thinking these would get me through my heaviest days at least, even if I’m having to remove way before 12 hours. So I ordered them and they arrived. When I first opened one, I did get a little shocked by the size. I mean I’ve had two kids but the size was intimidating. However, they’re flexible and when you squeeze it together to insert, it’s not bad at all. There is a time here and there that it may hurt just a tiny bit inserting because the length when squeezed together is quite long but once it’s in, it is so easy to position in place. You just take your finger and push the lip that’s closest to the front of your vagina until it kind of hooks behind your pelvic bone. Reading the instructions didn’t make sense until I actually inserted it and felt my pelvic bone and realized what they were talking about. But it slides right behind there and once it’s there I feel absolutely nothing. It is amazing. And let me say that even on my heaviest day, I’m probably able to keep it in for about 8-10 hours without leaking. I don’t even use a backup tampon like I originally bought these for because it’s not even needed. These have completely changed my life. I am such an active person and am always doing outdoor things, so to be able to go swimming or hiking etc and not have to stress or cancel because of my period is awesome and game changing. I have yet to have sex with one but honestly, I don’t think I would unless I just put a new one in. The only issue I have occasionally is if I have one in and I am using the bathroom and push down, once in a while it break the seal and everything inside comes pouring out. So I usually just remove it before going and insert a new one when finished. When you remove it, all you have to do is put your finger on the lip and push down like your using the bathroom and pull it forward and it comes right out. I usually pull mine out with my right hand while holding a wad of toilet paper in my left hand, dump the contents into the toilet once I have it out and then slowly place it on the toilet paper, wrap it and toss in the trash. I know this is a lot of TMI but I wanted to be honest and share my experience. I will never use a tampon again. I will never use a cup again unless I happen to run out of these and am waiting for an order to come in. And honestly I never have to wear pads as back up either. If you’re debating - just do it. You won’t regret it. I also included photos of how much liquid these discs can hold compared to a cup. It’s triple the amount. That means if your cup is only getting you through 4 hours, this should get you through 12. Again, they seriously changed my life by allowing me that bit of freedom during the week I’m on my period every month that I never could have before.

Works great when you get the hang of it, can even have no-mess intimacy
I was initially skeptical of this product (I am not a fan of menstrual cups, which are sort of similar). However, I have been very pleasantly surprised by how well these discs work. Takes a little bit of practice, but if you know your internal anatomy well enough, it's not hard to figure out where to position it (just behind the hard pubic bone area). On my heaviest flow day, it stayed put for an entire 8-hour outing, did not leak, was not uncomfortable. If you know which muscles to use, you can even empty it when you go to the bathroom, and it still stays put and doesn't leak afterward. I also decided to test out intimacy while wearing one of these (cautiously). It worked great. No mess at all, and he couldn't feel it.

Have to sit down to be inserted correctly
sorry for the TMI in advance-This was my first purchase of these and I was hoping to love them and they’ve been absolutely amazing. The first disc I inserted I was kind of standing up because it felt weird to be sitting on the toilet trying to do it. I put it in made sure it was behind my pelvic bone and went on my way- I felt like something wasn’t right and it kind of hurt. But still I thought I just wasn’t used to it. 20 mins later I felt leaking and so I took that one out and retried.YOU HAVE TO BE SITTING DOWN for this to work lol this next time I sat down and made sure to put behind my pelvic bone again- worked like a charm! 8 hours no leaks and then when it was time for bed I changed it and was able to sleep all night with it in! Usually I’m a heavy flow girl the first day or two having to wake up in the night and first thing in the morning to change a tampon but not with this! I also think it alleviated some of my cramping pains. Will buy over & over.

Worked; pros, cons, mixed, tips
Context: I have a copper iud and my period is pretty heavy because of it. It's 6-7 days with spotting before and after. 2nd-3rd days can be horrible blood bath and pads were always leaking on the side. I was fed up. I didn't choose cup because I didn't want suction while having iud (I don't understand why Amazon is asking me about suction power of suction free product.) This is a review after using a disc for the first time.<Product review>Pros:- It works: I had it in for 10hrs (dinner-next morning) and it only had a tiny spot. Since I was gonna be sleeping, I had a large pad on and expected it to leak. Surprisingly, it only had a thumbnail sized spot after flipping around 5-7 times while I was asleep.- Cleaner than pad leak: like I mentioned earlier, things leak when it gets heavy. I am used to cleaning up when it happens and I was fully ready to do the same. For this product, I only sacrificed one index finger and few toilet papers. I didn't have to wipe my entire inner thighs.Cons:- It's big: I think this particular disc was a bit bigger than my size. It felt like tampon; you know something's in there but it doesn't hurt. It can be a bit annoying when you move around and feel it every now and then. With that being said, I would definitely use it for 2nd-3rd days but I'll skip for other days until I buy smaller reusable disc.- Expect to sacrifice 1-2 fingers: It's inevitable. It will be covered in blood. That's the only way to take it out. However, you can still save your clothes and thighs if you use your assigned fingers wisely. (More in tips)Mixed:- Auto dump thing didn't work for me. It didn't leak at all when I went to bathroom before sleep. I wish auto dump would've worked but I think it's too big for me to work. I'm happy nothing leaked tho.Tips: I only have two tips at the moment, since it's my first time. It's for people who are still considering disc, first time user like me, and people struggling with cleanup.- Insertion: If you can touch between your cervix and bone with one finger during period, disc insertion is not too big of a deal. Try to find that out before purchasing and probably disregard this comment if you find your anatomy to be different from my description. If you can feel the back side of pubic bone, I pushed it 2-3 times just to be sure and it didn't leak until morning.- Taking it out: I pulled with one index finger. It took me 3 attempts before I could actually take it out. To avoid a huge mess, I took breaks and allowed blood to flow out during those attempts. Once I got it, I didn't immediately take it out; I pulled 1/3 of it out and waited for blood to flow out of it before taking the whole thing out. After that, I pinched the rim to keep it folded in half, then pulled out the entire thing. If you think of how you need to pinch for insertion, that's exactly what I did here. I didn't want any splashing so I planned everything out, since auto dump thing was not gonna happen in my case.I hope this long comment helped.
