Advice for Rookies from an old landlord
I sympathize with the one-star reviews. I've been a landlord for 40 years and I've NEVER tried to snake out a clogged drain with this cable-and-handle configuration. The most economical solution is one of the hand cranked augers which cost $25-50. Word to the wise - go slowly, feed cable until you experience resistance, back off if you're building up tension, pull out the cable to see what's gathering at the tip. SO, WHY DO I BUY THIS CABLE? Because eventually you will accidentally put a kink in the crank auger's cable and it will forever after get jammed in the pipe and fail. Rather than throw away your $25-50 auger - take off the back plate, replace the kinked cable with THIS BRAND NEW ONE, and you're ready for the next clog.

Zero plumbing experience - success after a couple of hours.
After a year later of buying this (bought Nov 25, 2014), I thought of updating this review. So in this past year, our sink drain clogged twice. And I was able to use this product - twice!Note that I had ZERO plumbing experience - I am actually an IT geek so tinkering electronic stuffs is my forte and not hard labor like plumbing. But shopping around, I found that hiring an actual plumber costs a lot of money. And since I learned my trade from scratch mostly by self-study - I reckon why not start at plumbing? So I researched around the internet and those basic home remedies of using hot water, baking soda and vinegar did not help. So it boiled down using an auger snake and pure lye which are both available here in Amazon. Both arrived in time to save the day (I love Prime Shipping!). Note that this Auger came in a Frustation-FULL (not Frustration free) packaging. It is in a hard plastic case where it claims it is reusable and I reckon not! Once I removed the auger from the package, it sprang up like a snake and stretched out like no tomorrow. It would be really difficult to put this back in there.Anyway, with a bucket underneath I removed the P-trap and inserted this in the pipe drain from where I removed the trap - I figured it would be easier to navigate the drain without the challenging curve of the P-trap and instead went straight down into the lower pipes (and yes I checked that the clock isn't in the P-trap). So when I had inserted around 2 feet of this snake, it hits a turn and so I turned this like crazy but noticed that it won't budge any further. After I think an hour of trying to figure out what was wrong, I managed to push it in by putting the handle about a feet nearer to the opening of the pipe where I inserted the snake and pushing a bit while turning. I felt a tug and the snake pushed further inside. So after a grueling hour or two more and about 20-feet of the snake, I suddenly head the water draining. Just to make sure, I poured some water into the pipe and confirmed it! I pulled the snake out by turning the other way and this time gently pulling instead of pushing I managed to get the whole thing out in a couple of minutes. All slimy and the head hooked up some unmentionables in there. Threw this in the bath tab and smothered this with hot soapy water. I followed the direction of the pure lye and wore some gloves and put a cup of it in the pipe then carefully at arms length poured a cup of hot water little by little and heard some nice fizzing reaction. I put back the P-trap and after waiting for a couple of minutes, blasted the sink with hot water and VOILA! no more clog. After cleaning the auger and having it dried out, I put it in a plastic bag and stored away. Alas, after 11 months, I had to call the snake back into action. What I found was a snake that looked and smelled of rust all over. I had doubts of able to use this for the second time. So like in the first instance, I did exactly what I'd done. Except at 3 feet in, part of the snake that is still out of the pipe had bent and couldn't straighten it out and was thinking it may be impossible if this bent area goes in the pipe as it would refuse to turn the snake's head. And surely enough, when the bent area entered the pipe, it made turning the auger hell! I had to try and angle my turns and pushed more force - thankfully, after 5 feet in the pipe drained! And when I pulled the snake out - the bent part was worse and it looked like it could break if more stress was applied to it and if this happened while it was in the pipe - it would've been catastrophe. So I reckon if the auger didn't rust so much can still be reused. However, since it sat there for 11 months in which the rust had already eaten a lot into it that it would be unsafe at that point. But considering the price of this auger, and the savings already brought about - it is worth buying a new one.Pros:* Affordable* Will give you muscles* Does a good jobCons:* Hard to turn/use* RUST* One use only if left idle for a long period of timeBottomline:Even with ZERO plumbing experience - just a little research, and a lot of hardwork, one can be able to unclog a drain with this and a bottle of pure lye ($20 bucks) can save you hundreds of dollars. If you're cheap, It's what you should do. But if you want to save 15% or more in car insurance....ah never mind.

The Cobra product unclog the drains.
I like this product because it helped me to unclog my drain although it was a little bit too long for me but, it did do the job and it was good for the price it took a couple times to unstop the drain the product was very helpful.

Good price, but the handle does not allow you to rotate.
It's an auger, and that's it. The handle really doesn't allow you to rotate.

Worked great! I am I purchased this
Worked great! I am I purchased this. It was small enough to handle all the curves in my current houses plumbing and long and strong enough to go through 3 clogs. I wouldn't have known about the other 2 if I had a shorter snake. It does rust quickly though so make sure you clean it well and oil it quickly. The reusable case is questionable lol but an old coffee tin works great.

Useless handle
This thing is a piece of junk. The handle is very difficult to use, which means you'll be spending hours trying to turn this snake to feed it into the pipe, if you even can at all. Not only is the handle hard to use, but for some reason beyond me it comes with plastic "grips" over the ends of the handle. It seems like the intention was to make the handle easier to grip, but in reality the plastic spins freely meaning you have to hold the handle farther up on the exposure metal part to get any real torque going.Spend the extra $15 and get a snake with a plastic housing and crank handle, it's worth it.

Canister Refill
I use this to replace the line in a canister that was all table top. It worked perfect.

What I needed
the crank comes with it was for 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch, I guess. Regardless, it works for me.

Picture shown is different then what was received.
I did not receive what was pictured. It was only a cable, without the attachment shown in the picture.
