Thorn Dock Cleat Marine Stainless Steel Open Base

I've looked for this size in all the hardware stores, marina stores, and chandler shops, in the southern half of the state. The original intent was puzzle board handles. Brilliant. Got more sets for regular drawer handles, and actual dock cleats. Stylish. Well-built. Well worth the effort.

I needed cleats that could be fastened into the edge of a 2 x 10 board, and these met that requirement. A pleasant surprise was the highly polished finish on them. They look very sharp.These cleats are also easy to use. There is a good amount of clearance in the opening between the two posts. I have been able to easily pass through a loop of 1/2 inch rope to loop around the ends. Some 4 inch cleats from another source were too small to do that.Delivery was very prompt and the item was well packaged.

Got these to replace and supplement a couple 4” cleats in my old 15’ boat. Price was solid, received them quickly, and they are polished like a piece of jewelry.That said, they’re almost delicate compared to the old ones. Gonna have to eyeball them in the boat to see if I need something more substantial.If what you want are some beautifully finished coat hooks these are the deal.

Used them to attach additional bumpers, matched my origionals perfectly.No screws came with this item.

Worked good and good quality

I originally bought some other cleats (unfinished look to them) because of the cost. These are far nicer, and add a finished look to my dock, as well as being a lot nicer to tie off to. The rough cast of the other cleats I bought were more of a pain, as well as the screw holes being more difficult to attach. This is simply a nice, finished, and presentable cleat you can confidently purchase for an easy installation once you pick up the proper Hardware to fasten them to your dock, no finishing work required on your part!

I can't speak, yet, for their durability. But they are nicely cast and finished - and appear to be stainless, as advertised. I bought them as halyard cleats for restoring old Sunfish, so they aren't really going to see rough duty. But you won't be disappointed in their value. I may use a couple on a dock as see how they go.
