I really liked this light while I had it
I really liked this light while I had it. I commute on my road bike in Denver through most the year, and I'm an aggressive rider that often rides in the flow of traffic. Accordingly, I wanted something that was as bright as a car or motorcycle headlight that could be seen from a long way out. On that front, this light really delivered. It was the brightest tail light I have ever owned, it had great diffuse 180 degrees of visibility. The battery was awesome (albeit a bit of overkill), and the wet weather protection absolutely unmatched. The only real complaint I had about the light itself was that the lowest setting was a bit bright for use in a pace line (a lower setting would have been appreciated by those behind me).Unfortunately, this light failed where most others do--the mounting system was awful. I didn't like the magnetic system to begin with, as I didn't like having the magnet permanently zip tied to the seat post of my road bike. My solution to that problem was to buy a giant bag of zip ties and cut it off when I didn't need the light. For a $120 dollar light, there really should be a better solution. I also felt nervous throwing the light (and it's super-powerful magnet) into my backpack with my laptop and other electronics. In any case, a couple of weeks ago, I got home from my evening commute an realized the light was no longer attached to the magnetic mount. I have no idea where the light popped off the magnetic mount--probably in heavy traffic as I didn't hear it hit the ground. Aside from the fact that I am not out $120, I don't know how long I was riding in the dark without my primary light. Not exactly confidence inspiring to be looking down all the time to make sure your light is still there. And yes, I did have the light mounted vertically on my seat post.I liked the functionality of the light so much, I've toyed with the possibility of getting another and making a proper mount for it with some go-pro hardware and some epoxy. Ultimately, it's probably not worth the cost and effort with so many other alternatives out there.

Not spending a cool hundred for a rear light that makes you as ...
Everyone hypes up their bike lights a bit, or a lot, and sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised to find a product lives up to it's hype. The Orfos Red Flare is one of those products that will wow you with being exactly as described. This tail light is ingenious. It delivers on the output and makes you wonder why you suffered with lesser products for so long. If you're commuting at night, you've probably got thousands invested in your bike, clothing lighting, etc. Not spending a cool hundred for a rear light that makes you as visible as a car from both the rear and side is the definition of insanity. Blinking lights are difficult to track, and most have an output of a tenth of this light, but typically concentrated in a single LED, which can also overload a driver's vision as they approach you.No matter what light you use, put it in solid glow mode, but if you can, add this light, you won't be disappointed.+1 Solid Construction+1 Massive Output+1 Great distribution of light+1 Greater than 180º visibility+1 Fast USB Charging+1 Long Life LiFePO4 Battery, 1500 recharge cycles!+1 Works great in cold (I've used to 8ºF), no battery life or output change!+1 Magnetic Mount is versatile

Great all around light.
Very nice light for riding. It's not directional, so it's not as attention getting in the day as some of the hi power LED flashers (Bontrager Flare R for example) but it is great for evening/night use. The mounting system pretty much depends on being mounted vertically instead of horizontally for the strongest mount attachment of the light. A different mount system would allow more mounting options (it was hard finding a good mount setup for the Catrike Road, ending up with me getting a T-Post mount to put it on so it would be vertical as we had it bounce off when horizontal once). The button for power/settings takes a little getting used to. I have no problems with it, but my wife (who has MS) has some difficulty with it sometimes.A video of the Bontrager Flare R and the Orfos is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMoFuUXTQ6QOne of the Orfos Flare at a distance - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdqNB3pO4Xo

Great light for commuting
A fantastic light that gives me confidence that I am being seen by drivers. The low and medium settings are great for night time riding and give plenty of battery time for my commute. I recharge after every use so still don't know max battery life. My only minor gripe is that it takes a while to get a feel for the length of button press to change brightness level. I mounted the magnet to my rack frame and it creates a nice glow around the rear of my bike. I would give five stars if switching brightness and modes were easier but I can live with this quirk for the feeling of confidence that I will be noticed by drivers. Yes it is expensive but the build quality and area lighting covered is worth the cost.

Good and bright.
It's very bright. The magnetic mount makes it easy to take off and recharge. But, the pictures show it horizontally mounted is several ways (i.e. on the helmet, etc.) and the instruction say to only mount it vertically. Due to the aerodynamic fins on my helmet, I couldn't get it mounted on the helmet anyway. It does mount on my frame below my saddle bag and seems to be easily seen from behind even though it's at an angle. As the other review said, the different length button clicks makes it difficult to set up. Once it is configured, it is easy to just turn on and off.

Has potential but expensive for the poor instructions.
Very visible in daylight however the one button for all functions is difficult to master. The directions are on the outside of the package and not particularly clear. The ability to change or determine the brightness level is difficult at best.
