Genuinely better than Barbour wax dressing.
I have waxed many a Barbour in my time, both silkoil and Thornproof cotton. I have always used Barbour wax. However I had two of my Barbours and one that is my wife’s to do for this winter, and the cost of Barbour wax has went through the roof. Thought I would give this a punt at a fraction of the cost. 500ml for £18 is pennies in comparison to Barbour. I waxed all three today and they do not disappoint. The wax seems easier to apply than Barbour and they look brilliant. Apologies as the photos don’t do the jackets justice. If you are looking to wax a garment and need a cheaper alternative with top quality... this is the stuff to get. 5 stars

Waxing couldnt be easier. First time waxer review
First time re waxer. I watched a few videos before attempting to re wax my 10 year old jacket, which had not been heavily used, but had lost it's 100% water repellence. I opened the can & placed this in boiling water for about 10 minutes to soften, then applied in small areas, thoroughly spreading out with a small sponge 8*4cm. The whole process took about 30 minutes with approx 40 - 50ml of wax used. Afterwards i used a hair dryer on hot setting to go over the entire jacket. This evened out the way, result zero patches. Water repellence. Long term unsure as this was only re waxed last weekend, however I have used the coat every day since, & got caught in a downpour yesterday & am pleased to report no leakage. Great value when compared to Barbour wax. I would thoroughly recommend this product, does what it states, easy to apply & great value.

Easy to use and great price
Fantastic price, Ive restored my (Mums) ancient Belstaff with it! Ive worn it for 20 yrs and never cleaned it, prior to that it lived in the garage with other Barbour and Belstaffs with the occasional coat of dubbin. After a cold bath and two days to dry, I used half a tin of wax and really got it soaked in. After melting it in a bowl of hot water, I used a flannel to get in every crease and stitch, and really worked it in to the cloth. It took two hours and was easy to use as the wax was already fairly soft. Id recommend watching a YouTube tutorial on how to do it in case you’ve never done it before, its a little daunting chucking a vintage coat in the bath and blasting it with cold water! In all, well worth it and a great price.

Re wax Barbour jacket
I was reserved about trying to re wax my jacket, looked up a few online videos and as I thought looked easy to do.Heat the tin up in a pan with boiling water until the solid wax melts, use a sponge dip it in lightly and apply, easy as.Only took around 30 minutes to apply for a 1st attempt. Definitely will be keeping my jacket in good condition re Waxing.

STILL NOT SURE
I bought hti sin place of Barboour's own brand reproofer because of the good reviews and significantly better value (about half price?). It was easy to heat and melt and to put onto the coats which was a plus. However, the coats have been somewhat greasy and tacky once reproofed which I've not had before using Barbour's proprietary stuff. I'm unsure whether it is an unsatisfactory feature of this protective proofing or that I overdid the reproofing, hence the somewhat ambivalent stars. Whatever, the coats are now fully waterproofed, if a bit sticky.

Brilliant
I asked for advice re use and 9/10 people gave useful answers thanks. Just 1 idiot.I wiped my jacket with a sponge and cold water and left to dry overnight. So this is a solid wax- I heated in a saucepan.Prepped dining table lined with newspapers and started with my 15y old Barbour jacket laid flat. Did the back then front and sleeves.Used an old T-shirt. One to apply and one to wipe off excess.Took me 2 hours. One 200ml was enough with some left over. Initially the cotton seemed to soak up the wax. Just keep applying and work into fabric.Used hairdryer after and wiped more excess off. This left a velvety smooth finish.Left to hang dry in airing cupboard.Super happy. I think I’ll do another layer.Jacket looks great. Thanks so much.

Easy to use
I needed to reproof an old wax cotton jacket and had tried a spray on product (which was not good) so bought this. Okay it took a while to cover the whole jacket but cosmetically the jacket looks like new again. I have not been able to test in the rain yet but I have tried pouring water on the jacket and the water beads up and runs off instantly so would expect rain to do the same,
