USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet NIC Network Adapter with 3 Port Hub - White - USB 3 Ethernet Adapter - USB Charging Hub (ST3300U3S)

Amazing! This is the only usb hub with built-in ethernet that I have found that works with the Nintendo Switch. It's the only one that supports the correct chipset and I have confirmed that I get full (usb 2.0 because that's all the Switch allows) speed ethernet. I'm sure it's great on PC too as it is usb 3.0 and gigabit. One thing to note though is that I am using the included power supply, I do not know if this is required but since I am using it solely with my Switch Dock anyways I didn't mind using another plug, as my entertainment center is outfitted with more than enough. If you want to have ethernet on Switch while also keeping and expanding the number if usb ports for wired gamepads or gamecube adapters, THIS IS THE WAY TO GO. It may be a little more spendy than other hubs, BUT IT'S WORTH IT.

August 31st Startech has always come off as being a trusted, good quality brand in my mind. I've never had any bad luck with their products. I ordered one unit, months ago and have been using it without issue and getting USB and Ethernet speed efficiency out of it without issue. It had performed consistently without fail. I am a little disheartened and even skeptical with some of the negative reviews being left about this product. I wonder if cause for reported issues are OE related, if not then this product being used on a USB 2.0 (or less) port, which would certainly produce some (if not all) of the issues being reported. I have purchased 2 more for machines I have lacking both sufficient USB ports and ethernet ports and so far, still performing up to snuff.

The Gigabit Ethernet works as advertised, as my internet speeds on my Nintendo Switch jumped from 19.4 MB/s to 58.6 MB/s (with suspended software in the background). However, the device will turn off any equipment plugged in when it's not drawing internet in sleep mode, such as ElecGear's Dock Fan for Nintendo Switch HAC-007 Dock. Not effective for powering that rear fan in sleep mode, but definitely effective for a reliable online gaming experience. I will note that I still had the external power source powered up and connected when this all happened. Perhaps the snow damaged the power adapter before I even brought it inside from the cold, snowy weather.

The USB hub is detected and works fine but the Ethernet adapter is not plug and play on macOS or iOS devices. It requires installation of a special driver / system extension.

I bought this by mistake, actually wanting another product instead. Decided to go ahead and find a use for it, and it worked so great, I use daily at home like a docking station for keyboard, mouse, and ethernet for my work laptop. Would definitely purchase again if needed.

Works exactly as I had hoped. I was ready to go out and buy a new computer because we got a package with higher internet speed that my computer wouldn't allow. So glad I found this. I plugged it in and it worked immediately. It comes with a cd-rom to install drivers, but it wasn't even necessary. Love the convenience of the 3 additional USB plugs as well.

I was very hopeful that this nice little package would help me solve the shortage of USB ports and lack of a wired Ethernet connection on my MacBook Pro. Unfortunately, it does not help. Not because it is a bad product, the product works perfectly with a Windows machine, and the USB ports worked just fine with my MacBook Pro. Unfortunately, the Mac could never see the 1Gig Ethernet adapter buried inside this device. I confirmed with tech support that this is a known problem. There is no known workaround. I had two of these, both exhibited the same problem. They claimed that sometimes they work, but both failed for me. As I said above, the USB ports appeared as proper 3.0 ports, but the built-in 1Gig Ethernet port would never appear in the device tree, so the Mac never saw the Ethernet adapter and I was unable to use it to connect to my network. So it simply became an overpriced USB 3.0 hub. It's really too bad because it is a very nice, small and tidy package, with a decent length USB master cable and an included power supply insuring maximum power to any and all connected devices. The power adapter even includes the appropriate plug adapters for Euro and UK usage (in addition to North America). Had the Ethernet worked I suspect I would have given it a 4 or 5 star rating. If you need this for a Windows machine I wouldn't hesitate, but for a Mac it's probably better to pass. BTW, it uses the ASIX USB 3.0 to 1Gig Ethernet chip to implement the Ethernet adapter, which also shows up in many of the USB 3.0 to Ethernet dongles out there. I see from the reviews that most of those occasionally require an "unplug and replug" action to get them to be recognized on a Mac -- probably an indication as to why this hub/Ethernet combo has trouble with Macs. Back to the drawing board!

I purchased this adapter for an ultrabook that has few USB 3.0 ports and no ethernet port. This device is used nearly every day (every weekday at minimum) and it has yet to let me down in the few months I've owned it. So far I haven't had any issues connecting multiple devices simultaneously e.g., running 2 external HDD's and charging an android device while also using a wired Ethernet connection.

Windows10などのドライバーを無理やりインストールする必要がない点は大きいです。 アクセス速度については ・iSCSI接続のシーケンシャルアクセスで90MByte/sec ・ファイル共有フォルダへのコピーで93MByte/sec という数字が出ています。 まあ接続元/接続先やネットワークハブ等の性能の影響も受けますし、共有フォルダに至っては 空きメモリが少ない相手やHDD等で他のアクセスが動いていると一気に落ち込みますので参考程度で。

Works as intended. But you have to be aware of the USB bandwidth.

Non funziona affatto con macbook pro retina 15" 2015. Quando colleghi l'hub la connessione wi-fi viene interrotta. Succede sia quando il wi-fi é giá attivo prima di collegare l'hub, sia quando, dopo aver collegato l'hub (con o senza alimentato é indifferente) si prova a stabilire una connessione wi-fi. Tutto questo accade senza neanche provare a collegare l'hub ad un cavo ethernet. Lo restituisco.

One of those devices that just works. Very handy to have in the kit bag for travelling around with your laptop.
