Came quick, carves easy, as expected

I am just getting into carving so I cannot yet fully judge these blocks but they look good to me. I have now started three carvings but undecided how I will finish the first two ... maybe paint ... maybe not. The wood is fine as the sharpness of the knife is what matters most.

I am just beginning to dip my toe into wood carving and I found these blocks to be perfect. They are really easy to work with. I am still making my way through my first project, but I am very impressed with how easy it is to mold the block of wood way I wish to. Would definitely recommend to beginners.

I was looking for some basswood for a video that I saw on YouTube. He was using basswood that is just this size and ripped on the diagonal. This gives twice as many pieces. I have carved one piece of it and works great. i'll probably buy it again.

Wood is very hard, about like yellow poplar.

Have not had a chance to use these yet, want to learn to carve tiny santas or other small characters. The wood is very smooth and clear, I'm sure it will work beautifully when I start to teach myself to carve after watching some UTube videos again.
