Replacement Motor for GE Genteq
M**L
It saved me lots of money, but falls short of a perfect replacement.
Out of all the replacement motors on Amazon I bought this one because it's labeled as a direct replacement for my old motor.Although it did work just fine I had some minor issues. The biggest issue is that the motor is ever so slightly physically larger than my old motor. This means that had to install my fan blade uncomfortably close to the end of the motor shaft. In fact part of the collar on my fan blades are overhanging the shaft! I had to do this to maintain clearance between the blades and motor. So an ever so slightly bigger motor does have an impact. The only other issue I had was relatively minor. The wires were WAY to short so I had to splice them into my existing old wires. Not really a big deal. The fan itself mounted perfectly to the old mounts on my guard. It's been running for a few weeks now and my system actually cools better than before with my old motor.Other than my fan blades being mounted uncomfortably close to the end of the motor shaft I would say it's a perfect replacement.

So far so good.
The media could not be loaded. This motor replaced a GE condenser motor of the same specifications and dimensions. It basically went right into the spot of the old motor of a Carrier Puron unit. I did noticed that the gauge of the wires were not as thick as the original, but the unit fired right up. The length of the wires was adequate to reach the control panel and start-up capacitor. The dimensions of the motor and the mounting bolts were identical to the old GE unit, so very easy to install, and the old fan blades fit fine in the shaft (though I had to move them a little farther up the motor shaft to clear the motor body, but no big deal. And as shown, it started right up. I'll write an update in a few weeks to let you know how it is working. But so far so good.

It fits, it works.
Quick delivery. Fan blade notch matched, wire color codes matched and wire clips at the end matched. Mounting bolts matched. Easy installation.

VERY HAPPY!
I bought this motor via Amazon from Electric Motor Warehouse in Michigan. It was manufactured by Genteq and did not come with any drain plugs, btw. This motor is designed for high-efficiency a/c heat pump units ... it's only 825 rpm, compared to the 1,100-1,200 rpm found on many other units. Because heat pumps run all year long, the fan motors will wear out faster than on regular a/c compressors, which are only used for summer cooling. It took me less than an hour to replace the old motor ... the bearing had gone, so it was squealing. I did not actually replace the existing run capacitor with the one supplied with this motor. I had recently replaced the dual run cap, so I tested both sides and the capacitance readings were good. What a difference - the outside unit now runs very quietly!CAUTION: double-check the "stud pattern" before ordering any fan motor for a compressor unit. (This pattern refers to the 4 threaded mounting bolts ("studs") on the back of the motor, which are used to mount it ... upside down ... to the top grille). Some suppliers specify this dimension as diagonals ... from stud to stud ... across the center of the motor, but others specify it as two sides of the square pattern. The stud pattern for this particular motor is therefore: 5.25" diagonally or 3-11/16" square. Finally, with any electric motor, you need to match the specifications very closely when replacing, or you will have problems ... inefficient operation and/or reduced product life.*** UPDATE 7/12/2020 ***Everything is running smoothly and quietly. No problems.

Poor quality
Very poor quality motor. It failed in 4 months. It runs until the weather gets into 90s and then it overheats and trips its internal thermistor. Its obviously overated.Seller shows a Genteq motor in the ad but sends a US motor instead. They claim Carrier compatibility but the wires are too short. Wires are also a smaller gauge compared to the original. Also the shaft is shorter. Seller refused to help.

U get what u bargain 4
We bought this item on the 5th and lost the old motor a day later (we hoped it would make it until we get this 1). The item was delivered on the 9th, a God sent. It works fine the install was stupid easy and we saved ourselves about $500. This seller is super fast and the only issue is that it was about $45 more than the prime 1 buuuuuut prime will not give any warranty this seller does.

Great motor
I have an older Payne AC unit my original motor went out so I ordered this one. The HVAC guy who installed this one was impressed that it was the exact one I needed and that it came super fast. To my knowledge it was an easy install and it’s been a little over a month and it’s still working just fine.

Good product and price
Used to replace 32 year old unit. This was the closest match I could find. Only difference for me was the wires were shorter, so I needed to add extensions. And, there is only one flat surface on the shaft, not two. But, works great and was able to install easily myself.
