WOW! PODS Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak - Standard Edition

This product uses green screen technology to mimic the invisibility cloak effect used in the Harry Potter movies. Using the App, you get a background image (like your living room) and then can move in to frame, turn the cloak inside out revealing the chromakey green lining which is digitally removed by the Wowstuff app in real time.Some folks had a bad experience with the app on Christmas day, but I had no such issue. The app downloaded easily on my Pixel 3XL, and once I entered the unique product code that came with the cloak, the app worked seemlessly.Pros:Watching someone vanish through the phone in real time is really neat!The cloak looks gorgeous, suitable for costume or cosplay purposes.The cloak is heavier weight material of good quality and feels great, almost like upholstery or tapestry fabric.The app worked flawlessly.The instructions built in to the app were clear and thorough.The included phone stand worked ok.Cons:The cloak feels like it's for smaller users. I'm 5'10 and the cloak comes to about my knees. This may be accurate to the books, but if you are an adult human of average height, you will have to kneel to make your feet "invisible", more so if you want to cover your head as well.I expected the cloak to have a hood. It does not. It is unclear from the source material as to whether or not it did. So this is likely more a discrepancy in my expectation than anything the matter with this product.As such, however, I would refer to this as more of an "invisibility cape" than an "invisibility cloak". Semantics. ;)The included phone stand won't allow your phone to be parallel to the image you are taking. As it's a stand and not a tripod, the phone is held in place by gravity and your phone rests aiming slightly up. You (wearing the cloak) will need to be higher than the height of your phone if you want to take a horizontal photo (movie aspect ratio). You can shoot vertically with no issues.Final thoughts:All in all, this toy married a great app performance with a quality costume piece for an excellent experience. I know there were some server issues around the holidays but best I can tell they seem to have resolved those.

UPDATE: They fixed the app! At least from my end of things. Got it registered and ready to go. My kids haven't tried it yet, so I'll change it to 5 stars if it's great!Old review: So far this is 1 star because the app doesn't work AT ALL. It won't accept my product code no matter what. Just keeps telling me something went wrong!

My friends and family have been having so much fun playing with the Invisibility Cloak! The app was super easy to download and use: it worked well right away with very little learning curve (I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 so can verify the Android app functions just fine). The cloak works just like a green screen so there's endless pictures and video you can take using different props and positions (try using green props and watch them disappear too!). We even roped the family dog into sitting still enough to get a few pictures in :) You can really get creative. I think it's especially great for small children due to the size (if you're a tall adult it won't cover you completely), but it's definitely amusing for all ages!

This is a must for any Harry Potter fan! Cloak is made of nice fabric and seems sturdy. My kids were able to re-enact their favorite scenes and are creating their own story around the cloak.Registration code was invalid but customer service was quick and my kids were able to play within a few hours of me emailing them. If you are gifting this item, I highly suggest getting it early and setting up the account prior to the day of the celebration. This way, the product is ready to go out of the box and the magic wont be sucked away because of an invalid registration code. But again, WOW! was amazing with their response.

My cape arrived in a used condition. However, everything was there and it all works. Seller related the sale.You need to download a free app for your phone. The cape is two sided. One side mottled Grey like the movie cape. The other green.Use the app to take a background picture then wear the cape green side out. Anything covered by the cape is invisible. You can take a photo or a movie. There is a plastic stand for the phone camera as it needs to be steady. However my son could hold it steady enough.

The media could not be loaded. So cool! It’s kinda unbelievable how well this green screen technology works. Usually you need to be in front of a green screen and then key the background out, but this cloak keys YOU out! All you need is the app and something to keep your camera still (I use a gorilla pod). Super fun to make videos; it looks just like the movie! I can’t wait to share this with my fellow wizards friends!
