BUT THIS FROM YOUR VET, NOT ONLINE!!!
Do NOT buy this on Amazon!!!! My dogs have used Vectra 3d for many years with no side effects. It's very expensive at the vet, so I decided to purchase this on Amazon. First and last time! Both of my dogs got very ill afterwards. One threw up for 3 days straight! Thank God they are okay now! When talking to my veterinarian she told me that Vectra does not allow others to sell their products, only vets. She said that Vectra told them that people will get the empty tubes and fill them with different things, so who knows what I put on my dogs. Please buy from your vets office!

Living in apartment complex made it much worse but taking precautions and the right product works
I have one pug and one puggle and it worked instantly on my 18 pound Pug It had not worked on my Puggle however. I decided to try it one more time and I was completely successful. I believe that how you apply it can play a large factor in it's effectiveness. I applied it in between the shoulder blades and held my dog standing upright for two minutes to let it soak in. Sometimes dogs want to shake wet things off or it starts to not spread enough if it drips off to the side. I stood my dog up straight and held him there and other than that ithat it was his second straight dose of this product. My female pug never had a flea after application. We live in the deep South Florida area and the flea population is heavy. Living in apartment complex made it much worse but taking precautions and the right product works. I use this an Precor sprayed into the carpet. This cannot be done with cats who reside in the house as it has Premetherine. That's poisonous to cats. That spray kills fleas in at least three phases for up to 10 months which immediately took affect. I was allergic and getting attacked. My legs were the barometer of whether there were fleas. If I was red and swelled up it was a flea. If I had a blister it was a flea. I'd rather deal with mosquitoes than a flea any day. Bring it on sucka. But hell hath no fury like a flea scorned. They intend to dominate the world. It's a war my friend. Be prepared!!

Didn't work
Didn't seem to work at all for fleas. Seem to just make it worse. Dog is now scratching more after I used this. I've used this before in the pass on my dog but it was purchased from the vet and it worked great. But this Vectra I purchased from Amazon seems to just piss the fleas off. My poor fur baby is now miserable and scratching like crazy. Bought Vectra for my other 3 dogs but purchased it elsewhere and their's seem to be working somewhat better than the one purchased from Amazon. They scratch way less if any then the other dog. I actually seen the fleas jumping off of them when I put their drops on them, but the other dog just scratch like crazy like the drops did nothing but make it worse.

Good value, works okay. Easy to apply.
I was getting vectra from my vet for my dogs for a while but they stopped offering a rebate deal for it, I found it much cheaper on Amazon so I started buying it here. I’ve never used any other product on my dogs but from my personal experience it works well. It does make my one dog itchy (dry skin) for the first week, and she rubs on literally everything trying to itch her back, but thats much better than flees and ticks in my book.My other dog doesn’t seem to have any reactions to it, and the long applicator tip is excellent for his fur type (Pomeranian) as long as I keep him well groomed. It does seem to last slightly shorter than the 30 days I’m told it’s effective for, but after reapplication any fleas that found their way to my dogs die anyway. As for the issue of it being highly toxic to cats, I also have two cats and I usually apply vectra to the dogs and then crate them overnight. This both keeps them from interacting with the cats and from rubbing the product on any household items until after it dries.

Strange smell compared to vet purchased item
Generally, this flea and tick brand is great. It works much better than Bayer, Frontline, or Sentry (we've tried them all). When my dogs have this on they get 0 ticks and we go out to heavily wooded areas (lots of ticks) where they are running around off leash all the time. The negative for this particular purchase is that when I bought these they smell different (a strong chemical smell) compared to when I've bought this brand elsewhere (on Amazon or directly from vet). So I am unsure why it smells so different. Outside of that, it survives bathing quite well. I've had no problems with lost effectiveness from swimming or rinsing them with the hose. It's also survived through 2 shampoos. Fantastic! I find it does not leave much of a greasy feel to their fur after it dries, which I also like. Easy to apply.

Vectra 3D keeps the bugs from bugging my dog!
Vectra 3D is expensive, but I know that my dog is happy, healthy, and safe with it. I'm so glad I found Vectra 3D on Amazon for such a great price. I was concerned about the authenticity of the product to save money, but I bought it and it is the real stuff. My dog is a 40 lb spaniel mix, 11 years old. I rescued him when he was a year old. I found out he had an allergic reaction to flea saliva that made him chew sores and all of his hair from his backside, and it cost hundreds to have him treated for it on top of other issues he had that was not related to the fleas. He can not have fleas EVER again. We live in South Carolina, so fleas and ticks survive year round, plus the mosquitoes are so bad down here. It also seems to repel gnats and flies. Vectra 3D is the only preventative I have ever used on him.

Does the job. No ticks or fleas.
Ticks and lyme disease have moved into my region of West Virginia. I have taken several steps to rid my property of ticks but the deer, mice and woods are here to stay. We also travel to parks and other parts of the country where ticks are common so protection for my dogs is very important. The shelter where I adopted both of my dogs used vectra 3d so I have kept them on it year round. (We have had outbreaks of ticks in January.) Neither my minpin nor hound mix have had a flea or tick in the two and a half years I've been using it. Neither dog has had any side effects or negative reaction. I do have to be careful to keep them away from my cats for the first day it is applied, making sure it has dried thoroughly before allowing them into the same room. This is a minor inconvenience but the effectiveness is worth it.
