These heavy duty Victorian style triple headed garden lamp posts are made from powder coated aluminium with bright steel fittings so will not rust. They are supplied in sections specially packed individually in cardboard boxes, and take about 20 minutes to assemble. Instructions and all tools required are supplied. Foundation bolts are also supplied for fixing to the ground. They are simple to wire up, no specialist electrician required. The lamp is 2. 2m tall. The lamp heads have 3mm glass panes and each lamp head has four sides. The electrical cable is not supplied as this needs to be the correct length to go from the light to the power source, which to us is of course unknown. We do not recommend having cable connectors underground or outside which may be needed if we were just to supply a short cable with the lamp. The lamps are completely water proof and conform to IP44 and are CE approved. Each light takes any standard screw fit bulbs up to 100 watts (not supplied).

Nice lamps but oh dear!
Quite difficult to put together particularly the electrics. Some of the glass arrived broken in transit and when I phoned they send new glass. Also paint scraped so they took a tenner off price. When erecting it noted one of the triple posts broken so had to glue it with sAridite then put plastic tag over it which seemed to put it together but not great strength of construction. The instructions are quite vague particularly considering the wiring but manag d in the end thanks to a friend. Once up and lit they did look the part but construction and wiring not for the faint hearted.

Not wonderful
I bought three to replace a set which we bought a long time ago which had been accidentally damaged..They do look very nice now they're up, but what a nightmare! I have never met such poorly-made stuff before. In one of the base section castings the metal had clearly escaped the mould and left a razor-sharp collar inside the unit, just where you would need to put your hand to pull a cable through. If I hadn't noticed it I could have suffered serious injury. Fixing it needed only a file and a pair of pliers, but should have been dealt with before despatch. In a second unit, one of the castings was so badly bulged at one end that the sections wouldn't fit together. It should have been dressed before coating but that hadn't happened and I had to file off the surplus material myself to make it fit and accept that the section concerned would no longer.receive the benefit of a protective coating. Many of the sections are joined by grub screws into tapped holes in the castings which are less than an eighth of an inch thick. At least 50% of the holes in the units I bought were tapped at angles other than 90 degrees (which, although theoretically unacceptable, is quite understandable with such thin metal). One tapped hole (of the eighteen involved in the structural matter of holding the lamp heads in place) was defective and had no usable thread at all and I had to fix it - again with epoxy. The lamp units are supplied with glasses fitted. One of the glasses was cracked when it arrived. A further two panes cracked when the lamps were first switched on, implying that there was no allowance made for thermal expansion. I have fixed them with transparent epoxy. One of the nine nuts required to fix the lamp tops in place was missing from its package, but I was able to supply one from my own stock of parts (I am an amateur engineer). The chock-block provided to connect together the leads from the three lamp units was too small to accommodate the leads - which is a pity since the leads were provided with pre-crimped connectors, a nice touch seldom provided with like equipment. In order to make satisfactory connections I was obliged to cut off the crimped connectors and solder all the leads together, after which they could be fitted into the connection block. The building instructions are quite clear that the structure must be earthed and they refer to an earthing tag to be screwed into the base unit and connected to the Earth lead. A tapped hole is provided but, unfortunately, no connecting tag or machine screw was provided. Again, I was able to provide these from my private stock but I regard this as a serious safety failing! When properly assembled they do look very nice indeed ... but I advise that you steer clear of them unless your have a background in mechanical/electrical engineering!

Victorian triple lamps
Looks good in situ. However first lamp arrived with chipped paint and two of the glasses broken. One of the lamp fittings was also cracked.Phoned company and they took £10 pounds off and sent me new glass. Second one arrived and was okay.Quite tricky electrics on each terminal requires three wires to go in each and this can be quite difficult. Once up though look good. The chips I bought paint for .
