Some spoilers - be warned!
Ah, Season 10 of Frasier. I don't want to sound overly pessimistic, but this season feels like a cry for help. There are spoilers here for Season 9 and minor spoilers for Season 10, so please be warned.- Daphne is entirely unlikable here. Her kooky personality has gone and she has become judgmental, boring, and spends her entire time obsessing about housework (even though she is no longer Frasier's 'maid'). She has acquired the personality of a 1950's suburban housewife. Utterly unbearable. It isn't clear if this is the fault of Leeves or the writers, but there is no chemistry between her and Niles.- Roz is given one funny line in the entire series. The rest of her dialogue is pure exposition. She gets to participate in the occasional plot point, but even [SPOILER] after sleeping with Frasier in Season 9 the writers give her nothing to work with.- One of the strengths of Seinfeld was its motto, which ran something like, 'No lessons, no hugging'. The motto of Frasier Season 10 might as well be, 'Why have a punchline when you can have a moral?' Every joke ends with someone looking miserable, po-faced, and even the funniest scenes end in awkward silence. The worst part is, the morals the show is espousing are patronising and primitive - betraying the show's sophisticated and intelligent audience.- Frasier and Niles are given barely any screen time. When they are, the show skips along (the episode with the spa is one of two good episodes in this season - the other features Martin suspicious that he might not be Frasier and Niles' father).- The best characters in the show are now Martin, Kenny and Daphne's mother. Brief appearances from Bulldog and Gil (oh Gil, why didn't you get a spin-off?) are welcome, but just serve as reminders of how far things have fallen.- Where's Eddie?Let's review some of the 'hilarious' plot lines here [SPOILER]:- Daphne nags Niles so much that he voluntarily asks for exploratory heart surgery just so he can get out of the house for a few days.- Lilith wants to have another baby and has decided that the only sperm good enough is Frasier's. She changes her mind after meeting a pale man on a plane. His sperm will do instead.- Frasier refuses to pay a $2 parking charge and jeopardises the careers of Roz, Kenny and the poor parking attendant.- A new woman starts working at KACL. She is the most horrid and unbearable person to have been on a US comedy show.- Roz goes insane in the final episode just to create an artificially tense cliffhanger and the writers have to spend the first two episodes of Season 11 back-pedaling.- Dr Phil pretends to be Bebe's client. Why?When Frasier first aired I gave up during Season 10. As a result I missed Season 11, which is one of the best in the show's history.Do yourself a favour, skip this and just go straight to Season 11. Otherwise, prepare to stare in disbelief as you are patronised and lectured at by a bunch of unrecognisable characters you thought you had grown to know and love.

TV Gold
The penultimate season that takes Daphne and Niles' relationship to the next level....3 times over. Frasier stands his ground over a $2 parking fee. Bulldog plays a prank on Frasier and he plots his revenge. Frasier and Niles find that they are not members of the exclusive spa in the city, so they try to wheedle their way in, only to discover that like an onion, there are many layers to this exclusive spa. Lilith wants another baby with Frasier. Bebe's scheming sinks to a new level in order to win Frasier's custom and Roz makes a career choice.Just a few of the hilarious episodes from this award winning show.If you are looking to collect all the seasons of Frasier, I would suggest looking at the entire box set for all 11 seasons. As prices fluctuate on Amazon, you might find it is a lot cheaper than buying the individual sets.

Not without its charms
Having taken fright at some of the reviews of post wedding Frasier, I skipped two seasons to the point where many have said the series returned to form. Unfortunately, I suspect wishful thinking: Series 10 is good but only two or three episodes honestly approach the wit and humour of earlier years. I'm not unhappy with my purchase but Series 7 and the wedding would have been a happier place to have drawn a line in the sand.

Back to Form
Series 10 of Frasier marks a sparkling return to form after a poor series 9. Virtually every episode is of the highest wit. A couple of episodes towards the end of the run do feel a little dull - perhaps treading water before the final season. Overall though this is an excellent series.

Some really great bits, and episodes still
Some really great bits, and episodes still, (after all this time). If you're a Frasier fan, I recommend this - providing you don't pay too much for it -and providing you realise that as the show is nearly at the end and there is quite a lot of duff stuff here too."Thanks for the laughs you guys".
